I tried a new 2008 Toyota Camry last year and there seemed to be a big decline in the workmanship from 2002. I had owned a 2002 Toyota Camry LE after buying it new in 2001 when it was introduced. The test drive of the 2008 Camry didn't give me the feeling that I was driving a car of the same quality.
There was wind noise due to what seemed like a body integrity problem. I didn't buy a new 2008 replacement. I think quality-wise it was a step down from the 2002. I tried the 2008 Ford Fusion and 2008 Milan, both had excellent workmanship, were fun to drive, and had lots of pep. Don't assume the foreign cars are better. Many family members have driven the Ford Taurus models trouble free well beyond 100,000. The funniest story was regarding the Subaru line. The Forester and Legacy models owned by co-workers had expensive problems not covered by warranty. One emissions problem was the source of numerous visits to the dealership, and $2,000 or so in out of pocket repair costs. The owner had problems during the warranty period and on two occasions after the warranty had expired. The Legacy owner had problems with the emissions, and other equipment. She commented that fixing the car had been too costly. She traded the car at a low 85,000 miles, because it was too expensive to keep. Why don't we read about these stories? The Ford Taurus model has been VERY reliable past the 85,000 mile point. Let's start printing the truth about American made cars! |

dont care what brand u choose, all have their lemons. i work in the audits of toyota. we can pick one car off the line that will have 10 defects and the next car will have zero. truth is, all car companies use several of the exact same suppliers and whatever car you buy is only as good as the particular parts u buy and the particular people that put it togather that one day. as far as the 85k miles mark. all current makes should basically give you over 150k miles of any major issues now days.

All motor manufact. suck this day and time . Its all about the money. Less put into a vehicle, more to sell it. No one puts pride in what they make this day and time.. And the safety ratings are based between autos not on basic safety guidelines .. If they all suck its just a matter of whos is less sucky...

to:just the truth,
You work for Toyota? Why are you so negative? Would you have liked to work for GM so that you could have been laid off? Toyota is losing millions a day in the US right now keeping their people at work. |

Nothing more american than an import brand. What the %^& does that mean? It really means that most of the money goes to Japan.I know you say only the japanease can design good cars. They must be so much smarter than you and I.I once talked to a group of people in their 30s who thought Japan envented everything. Please google Japanease inventions and see how many you find. Then try American Inventions. Some say the take something and improve it. Well almost everything is made overseas and it is just cheeper. People now buy for price not quality excep for their cars. If you do some reserch you will find not all high quality cars are Japanease.
