2002 Ford Taurus
Symptoms: 1. noisy blower fan on any speed 2. blower fan stopped operating 3. passenger floor wet Following the information I found from both with this website and a number of others, I disconnected the electrical supply to the blower fan and removed the blower fan. The blower fan assembly had approximately 1/2 cup rusty water inside it. I cleaned inside the vehicle where the blower fan assembly is attached and purchased a new blower assembly from a local parts store for $85. The new blower fan did not include the plastic fan assembly which I had to remove from the system that I took out. To remove the fan, in addition to removing the washer, I also ground down the stem to which the plastic fan assembly attaches in order to remove it from the old blower without damaging the plastic fan. After putting the fan assembly on the new blower fan assembly, I installed the new blower fan assembly without any issues. From start to finish, the project took me approximately 2 hours; and would've been much longer without the help of the information I found in this website. The site noted below was also helpful. http://www.justanswer.com/questions/2rxx-need... |

I tried to do a video. I had to use my phone, but I think it gets the point across! I had no air blowing, and when it did the resistor was fried so it only ran on high. |

My 2002 Taurus W/ 62K MILES has been blowing ac intermitently for about three weeks now. The fix is easy and cheap. The relay, found to the left of the blower motor behind the glove box is supported by 2 7mm screws. Pull the connector and relay, replace part # F6DH-19A706-AA (motorcraft). I am going to take the car in eventually to have the leak corrected and prevent the problem from happening again. The relay was so cheap and easy to fix, I bought a spare should the need arise. I did take the blower and connect it directly to the battery and it worked fine. If I could attach a picture of the part I would, but it is easy enough to find. Hope this helps out.

This is so bad to read all of these complaints about the heating system. I experianced the same problems. Ford dealers said it's a common problem and there is no recalls, then handed me the 200 and 40 dollar billing for the replacement of the motor, that was about a year and a half ago now I can not eve get power to my controls or motor, I need any help that can be provided.

A Friend of mine said that the water is coming from a condensation catch located above the resistor and the motor housing and ford knows this and the dealers know this cause my friend that is a mechanic at a ford garage told me so!!!!!!!!!!

I have replaced two blower motors, I also had a lake on the passenger floor in my 2002 taurus. After a $1000.00 spent and much time, I know what the problem is in my car and about 15 others. The cabin air filter is located on top of the heater box.
Above the filter is a plastic water deflector, once it is moved to replace the filter, and it is not lined up properly or breaks.the water that comes in from the black cowl panel under the wipers, in front of the windshield, causing the water to spill out of the deflector directly into the cabin filter, since the top of the heater box is open, the water goes through the filter, filling the heater box. The fan is now in water,It shorts out or freezes. Excess water pours out onto the passenger floor. I cannot figure out after replacing my heater core why I only still have heat on low speed, If I turn the blower on high I get cool air, Put it back on low and I have heat. Hope this helps. |

My girlfriend's 2003 Taurus' ac/heater motor died today. This is the first time I've heard about this particular issue, and judging by the number of responses, I think it's safe to assume that ours has the same problem. The first replies in this thread were from 2007 so I was a little worried I wouldn't find much relevant recent information, but I was surprised to see the most recent replies are from just last week. Amazing.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions, I am going to try some fixes this weekend |

I just got a new (4 seasons) blower motor for my 2003 taurus with a 1 year warranty on ebay for under 50.00.

for everyone that has a leak where the passenger floorboard gets wet every time it rains. This is happening because the Air cabin filter was replaced and not put back in tight enough. Ford did a very poor job designing the water channels and one off the windshield drips right into the air cabin filter which then leaks directly in to the vent to the blower motor and on to the floor board
