I checked the fuse & relay also. The blower would still not work, just click when turning to "on" position. I found the motor under the passenger side glove box and it took more than a tap with a hand, several taps with a hammer and the heater/defroster is blowing again. I hope it lasts for a good long while. thanks for the tip

FOR EVERYONE with a Taurus or Sable with a water leak or blown A/C heater blower motor. If we act together Ford will be forced to expand an existing recall.
I have a 03 Taurus with the same problem. A water leak which dumped water onto the passenger floor board also caused my AC Blower motor to short out. I could not get Ford to act even though a related recall existed under 03V087000.
However, this CAN get fixed by filing a formal complaint with NHTSA which is exactly what I did. There website is: http://www.nhtsa.gov/
If enough people with the same problem file the complaint, NHTSA will force Ford to comply with their own existing recall or actually extend an EXISTING recall under 03V087000.
Here is what you need to do:
1. Call NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236
2. File your complaint, have your VIN ready and dates of problems (if possible)
3. While filing your complaint reference recall number 03V087000 AND my complaint 10184014. This will show a continuing trend.
4. If your water leak problem also resulted in a shorted out AC blower motor, make sure you mention this as well.
5. Once you have filed, please email me and give me your complaint number. I intend to compile all complaints which will prove the problem is widespread.
When you file your complaint, please email me at williamford61@hotmail.com . I am compiling complaints for one unified effort to force an extended recall on Ford.

I had the problem that my blower would only work on high speed. My mechanic knew right away that it was the blower motor resistor. So went to Ford and bought a new one and replaced it. After about a month I had the same problem. It worked only on high. I had it like this for about a month when I lost the blower completely. Went to my mechanic again and he took out the motor, at which time we turned it over and out came about a 1/2 cup of water. Car is 2003 with about 52,000 miles, I bought it 2nd hand and dont think I have a warranty.

I was just wondering what happened. I was thinking of buying a 1998 Ford Taurus (my 1994 Taurus trans going out) and I need a car. When I test drove the taurus a beautiful car the ac only blows on high and suggested a switch. In Florida ac is a necessity. I wonder if still to purchase the car and have the switch problem fixed or look for another vehicle?

The blower on my 2003 Ford Taurus quit working all together about 4 months ago. I was wondering if it could be a fuse. You can still feel cool air if the vent is on but its not enough to cool off the car in Georgia with temps currently above 100 degrees this is not a good thing. Whenever it rains the floor on the passenger side gets soaked. I purchased the car from an individual it was still fairly new and they had left the plastic mats in the car from the dealership perhaps this is why.

I have a 2003 Sable with water draining onto the passenger side floor in rain storms. I pulled the blower motor and dumped rusty water out of it. I pulled the cabin air filter. Then I ran water down the windshield with a hose to try and locate a leak. Have been unsuccessful in finding a leak.

The blower motor kicked the bucket on my 2002 Ford Taures; I went to a garage to have it replaced ($140.00) and as soon as I left the garage, I relized that the fan only works on full speed. Now I have to go back to the garage to have the resistor replaced (waiting to see if this is going to cost extra $ or not)

Just talked to the mechanic at the Ford dealer: water on the floor, passenger side, blower motor gone, repair bill $579.00!!! for motor, resistor, installation, and, presumably, fixing the leak. I am calling the number posted by William Ford (??) above.

We have a very similar problem; the blower worked intermittenly for the past couple of months. We too had a leak on the passenger side. I will lodge a complaint as well.

I too have the same problem. Blower moter hasn't gone out yet, but tons of water is being dumped in my passenger floor board. My problem is my husband and I are stationed in Germany and the US Ford Corporation wants nothing to do with us. The German Ford Dealerships will fix the problem, but we have to pay in euros. Very expensive. I'm going to be calling my congressman to file a complaint about Ford. Already called NHTSA and with the Federal Trade Commission. Ford sucks and I will never own another Ford as long as I live!!!!!

Soooo I'm not the only one with this problem! Lost two books left on the passenger floorboard before realizing there was a leak in my 2003 Taurus. Then the resistor failed. The resistor seems like an easy fix, but there's no point fixing the resistor or blower until the leak is fixed.
