Freedom of speech is not under attack. The constitution is over 200 years old and times are changing for better or worse. The only way to keep up with the change is to AMEND the constitution. Back when the first amendment was signed, people were, on the whole, a lot more COURTEOUS and less SELF CENTERED than they are today. You didn't have to worry about someone painting the side of their house with obscenities or wearing shirts that say "My dick is a girl's best friend" because it didn't even come across most people's minds to do such things. With the internet, we now have to worry about people saying horrible things about us that are untrue, intentionally exposing children and other people to hardcore pornography for laughs (see youtube and facebook spam attacks) and other atrocious behavior that has resulted in lives being ruined and kids comitting suicide. Your freedom of speech ends when it negatively effects somebody else's life beyond simply hurting their feelings or offending them.
Hear! Hear! Well said! How anyone cannot understand this is beyond me.

Something tells me you spent zero years in the military. Every state in the union has obscenity laws and no, they are not unconstitutional. You break the law, you get fined or go to jail. The cops were doing their jobs. The end.

well then hopefully you have your daughter in homeschool were she isnt exposed to it. even if she does come across those words and reads them out loud it is suppose to be YOUR place to teach her different on those words while she is young. When she gets older she will be exposed to them unless you keep her completely sheltered throughout her life my children know those words and they have read them the one thing is they know if they do read them do not read them outloud. Any child is going to come across these words sometime in life, they have to be taught not to say them when they are young but when they become adults they are going to do what they want and if these words have to do with their freedom of speech on a bumper sticker then of course they are going to put the on their car or wait are you still going to stop her then from using them. Freedom of speech as an adult is different from the language the comes out of a childs mouth.
maam you need help, whatever society decides to do your for it,ive got morals but i know that means nothin for some people

Why can't these same cops bust the drug dealers in this town instead of waiting for the person to buy the drugs then bust them. If they can ignore laws why can't we ignore a plate on a car. Please don't make like this is not happening we all no it is. Why do they sell shirts with obscenity, wouldn't that be breaking the LAW as well. Why don't they go after the company that sold the sticker on the car, wouldn't that make more sense. No because the cops can make more money this way, just like the drug dealers they let keep dealing the drugs.

It's not against the law to own a profane tee shirt or bumper sticker,it's just against the law to display them.If you have a shirt that says something like that, you can wear it all day long around the house, just not to your local Hooters...and the reason they wait for a drug buy to go down is probable cause.they can't just walk up and frisk you for no reason. Then they have the buyer AND the seller.
yep thats what they said

Dang it! I'm outraged! I'm going out today to get me an obese bumper sticker. And if they try to give me a ticket ill just rip the sticker off and pay the fine.

There is no law against owning something that has bad words on it. As someone else said, you're allowed to wear whatever you want on your property or in another establishment that allows it but publicly displaying these items crosses over the legal line.

Yeah! Why shouldn't we be allowed to wear shirts with titties on them or cook meth or run around with our balls blowing in the wind or marry our kids off at 12 years old? This country is so oppressive it's sickening! I hear several nations in Africa have TONS of freedom. I'm packing my bags up tonight and catching the first plane out of Nashville!

i dont give a crap if the bumper sticker was obscene or not we have a FIRST AMMENDMENT RIGHT TO VOICE WHAT WE WANT even if it has a curse word in it
Whether it is illegal or not, what kind of a-hole would do that? I'm pretty sure the only reason someone would want to is because they want children to read them, hoping to bring others' children down to their scumbag trash level.
I would like to find the children of the guy whose f-word bumper sticke my kid just saw and teach them to talk that way, but i'm sure they already do.
