Just bought 2000-f350 7.3 a/t dually powerstroke, 425000km/229000miles, drove it home 2000km and didn't skip a beat! No blow by, 11.7 mpg, towing! Have a cummins in my 90'chevy dually and 500000+ km not a problem @ 20 mpg! I'm sure with the rite chip and mods the 7.3 will get the same or close, love the larriat leather, awesome truck, recommend 7.3 highly! 6.0 not so good, fix my friends and others constantly.

What is the best chip to improve fuel economy for a Ford Excursion 7.3 Diesel ? Which also leads me to what kind of gas mileage can I expect?
Thank you in advance.
Have a nice day.

i have a 1994 f-350 turbo diesel. What is the difference between the powerstoke and the turbo diesel, and what can i do to get the most out of my truck.
Depends on the truck ford introduced the powerstroke turbo diesel in 1994 and a half. Anything below that it is the same motor for the most part just a lot smaller turbo.

Hi- I landed here searching for an answer to who made the 7.3 (non-turbo) for Ford - mine is a 1990 E350 cutaway/ box/ ambulance.
I love this truck. I'm still on my 1st tank, so I don't know the mileage yet. I picked it up full and have drove from Petosky to Traverse City through the hills-(some are "mountainous" but not mountains) and it drove great, added quite a bit of miles putting around town back and forth to lumber yard (more hills) and its still above half tank. Also goes up the hill I live on (about 55 degree up) repeatedly everyday with seemingly less doubt of making it than my wifes little car always provides.

Anyway- do you or anyone else know the answer to who made the engine?

hi there i own an 1990 7.3L diesel (pre-powersroke) and i get great millage around 28-32 MPG cuz i have no turbo but it does lack power, its a cube van and i can load it right up and millage doesn't change but it does have towing trouble and when ever im going up a hill im always right to the mat.

I have a 1997 f250 with 252k miles. Any time it goes below 20 degrees, it wont start, even plugged in. Heres what ive done, glow plugs, injectors, starter, block heater and batteries. Any suggestions?
I would look into the glow plug relay. That is your getting fuel to the injectors.

Go with the diesel. You may pay more per gallon, but you will pay less per month. I went from $500 a month with a gasoline powered truck to roughly $200 a month with my diesel. 7.3L is in my opinion the best engine Ford put in the truck.
