I have a 1994 Dakota 4x4, 5.2L. The truck will not start. This is what has been replaced as of today: Ignition Relay, Ignition switch, Pickup Coil, Crank Positioning Sensor, I have resodered the three red wires with a white stripe that are coming out of the black box and still the truck does not start.
The truck turns over, but has no spark to the coil and no power to the fuel pump.
I hotwired the fuel pump and the fuel pump works, but still I am not getting any fire to the coil. I have tried hot wiring the coil and still no spark.
Does anybody have any ideas on what else could be wrong with it that I haven't checked?

i have the same situation on a 92 3.9, works sometimes. if the check engine light comes on when you turn the key, it'll start, if it doesn't, it won't. new sbec and dist pickup, no change. can't pull engine codes, due to the cel not working most of the time.

Try the ASD relay...it powers both the coil and fuel pump.

the daytime headights don't work but the headlights work fine when turned on. I'm assuming the relay needs replacing. Where is it in the truck. The haynes manual I have doesn't mention it

I had the same thing happen to me. I took it to the shop and there was a wire corroded and it was under the power distribution center. The fuse box under the hood. The other thing was the engine idiot light was not comming on either. You could not communicate with the computor. Truck would turn over great fuel pump work but it would not start. Fixed that broken wire and done. Hope that helps, it was what happened to my truck. 1994 Dakota 318 4X4 325,000 klm.

I have the same problem with my dakota. The fuel pump will come on but then turn off, stalling the motor. Then the pump will not operate. Its seems to be intermittent. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem and found that the cluster of wires on the passenger side of the motor near the firewall had fallen on the exhaust manifold and fused together.
