I just bought my '06 Dakota three weeks ago and have had it back 3x for the vibration problem. Tires were rebalanced and still not right. Different tires put on and still not right. Next step is notifying
Daimlers TSP for what to do next. Its my third Dakota and this one is the pits regarding the ride. Boy, do I miss my '02 Dakota.

just brought my 2006 dakota 4x4 slt back to the dealer where I bought it from, 90 miles away and they think the vibration is caused by a bad drive shaft not in balance. they had to order it and I will travel another 100 miles to get it done. sad because I have a 5 star chrysler dealer 20 minutes from my house, but after 3 trips of balanceing new tires I bought and filling the tires with nitogen the getting #$&*^% around I had to bring it back where I bought it

I'm have the same problem with my 2006 Dakota 4X4. As soon as I hit 60MPH it shakes. Tires were rotated and rebalanced.....no change. Anyone find a dealer who can come up with a solution?

I bought my '06 Dakota Club cab about 5 months ago. It's on it's way back to the dealer for a 3rd time for a rattle behind the dash. I've also noticed a slight whistling sound from the pass. side as I'm driving. Also hearing a squeak when steering and driving at low speeds. Despite these problems, I love my truck and it rides great!

Have a 05' Dakota SLT 4x4 club cab, only two door handles. Had no vibration with truck until the dealer, per TSP, changed rear axles because of a braking shutter. Once these axles were replaced a steady vibration appeared. Dealer replaced and balanced 8 sets of tires, then I bought new tires but still have the vibration. Dealer removed drive line and had balanced also put a vibration damper on the exhaust. No change. Dealer has no directions from Chrysler on what to do next. I heard statements like, the truck is sprung heavy, which it is, and I feel road irregularitys, BULL. I took truck to a dynotune shop. Once the vehicle was on the rollers the tech started the vehicle up and at 20 mph the truck started vibrating like being in a low speed blender. He reved it up to 85 mph and the vibration increased in speed but not intensity, like being in a fast blender. Contacted my 5 STAR DEALER and as he stated before, there is nothing he can do further with out Chrysler getting involved. I suggested replaceing the drive line and the whole rear end, not just the axles and hubs. He agrees but must be direct from Chrysler cause he doesn't want to eat the cost if Chrysler doesn't pay. At his request I contacted Customer Support once again. We are now waiting for a reply from the factory on this issue. Will keep up the posts if anything changes. Yes these trucks are sprung heavy but that in its self doesn't cause a vibration when no vibration can be felt in the steering wheel. Another thing that I did was jack the truck up in the drive way and spun the tires up to 45 mph and could feel the vibration. I remove the rear tires and the vibration was still there but at a less intensive nature. I then removed each hub one at a time. Vibration did not change in intensity from what was there with the wheels off. I removed both hubs and spun it up again. The intensity level again dropped but the vibration was still there. My next step will be to remove the drive line and spin it up. I believe that the problem may be in the torque converter or transmition and as you add length to the system, drive line, axles, hubs and wheels that this intensivies the problem. Just my guess. Still waiting on Chrysler..

What I've found with my '05 was that the weather stripping was coming off of the doorframe, and had gotten itself inside the cab. Most likely with the passengers scraping it on the way by. Little touch of crazy glue and I havn't had the problem since.

I just read all the comments about vibration!! WOW!! To all you folks out there, I feel for you. I too bought the new 2006 Dakota Quad 4x4 and experienced the vibration. Mine kicked in between 60-70 mph, but strange, it went away and would come back, off and on. To the dealers 4 times, and finally, after 2 different Forced Road Balance, changing tires, they found 4 that met "spec". Dodge has a deal with Goodyear, and the Wrangler RT's that came on the vehicle are junk. Yes, they pulled the rear end, replaced the axle's, and set me on my way....for now anyway. So, it's interesting to find out....is it a tire issue?, or drive train issue? Do a google search on road force balancing and read up....start here: http://www.redwoodgeneral.com/balance.htm There is no sure cure, it's all hit and miss, but they do know there is a problem....stay tuned...

I just bought a 2004 Dakota Quad Cab SXT. The vibration for me starts at 38-40 mph. Took to dealer they said my tires were bad, only has 21k miles, took to my favorite Big O and they said the same. Argued with dealer until they split the cost on new Goodyear Eagle LS p255/65r16. STILL VIBRATES!
It is currently in shop going on 4th day, now they are waiting on new drive shaft to arrive.

My first and last dealing with a dodge.

Well vibration gang members. Put two more new tires and new wheels and Load Forced Balanced them again to meet Dodge specification of under 20 pounds. Still vibrates, and now am waiting to hear back from the Division Parts Rep on what they are going to try next. I do believe at some level there is a real tire problem but my problem didn't start until the rear axels were replaced because of the braking problem. I have to say that my dealer has been very understanding and is being directed by the Division Rep, so they can get paid for all of this work, warrenty. I hope to hear more in the coming weeks.

I have the V8 automatic Club cab and I removed the tail gate and put in a net. I get around16 to 17 back and forth to work, 18 miles one way, combination of side roads and freeway. Out on the open road I get around 19 to 20 and a speed of 65 mph. Not sure if a new power chip would help the mileage.
