Randy,
I also have a 2005 Dodge grand carvan and the instrument cluster just went out. I am trying the "remove the battery" and will see if this works. What did you find out on your van?

Thanks

I too had the exact same problem. Bought a new battery and the panel went kaputt. Read your comment here, then went out and unhooked the battery, polished the posts and connectors, rehooked the battery, and viola! Fixed! Thanks for sharing.

Same problem, same fix here. My 2005 Grand Caravan lost all instruments this morning. On advise from this page, I disconnected the battery for an hour.(Interestingly, the battery cable wasn't as tight as it should be -- I noticed that I could twist it without loosening before I disconnected it!) I just reconnected, and all looks good. Hope it lasts, but at least I know one more piece to check before taking it to the shop!

My 2005 Dodge Caravans instrument cluster, brake lights(except small one on top of the van), and turn signals all were out when I started the van. Everything else works just fine including the head and tail lights. I disconnected a trailer just before then if its any help. I have checked all the fuses and relays, tried resetting the bcm, and anything else I could find on the net. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
I had the the same issue on our 2002. went out to a wreckers got a new bcm but no luck, after a bit of research, went to the fuse box in engine compartment, fuse box is on a hinge flip it over and inspect all the plugs and connections. Because the bright sparks at dodge decided to expose the fuse box to the elements by putting it in the engine compartment it seems that the plug and wires become very corroded one of my wires was corroded so bad it broke off. So after repairing the wired I used a dremal with wire wheel to clean all connections. put battery back in turned on the key and everything back to normal. Hope this helps.

Check for the RECALLS these vehicles are very problematic...I know for sure there is a recall on windsheild wiper motors...headlight assembly etc.

Hi, My wife's 02 grand caravan has had similar issues.Try this,dis-connect the battery for a short time (15-20min),then re-connect.this causes a reset of several systems.I cant explain why it works, but stumbled on it when the original batt failed.we have had to this 3 or 4 times withgreat results
Thanks for the great idea! I encountered this problem on my wifes van. I took your advice and the problem corrected itself!!

My '99 Town & Country had the same problem with the gauge cluster going dead. A quick tap on the dash would bring everything back on again. Also noticed that several times when trying to the start the engine it would start and then die again. Noticed that the gauges were not on. Tapping the top of the dash fixed the problem for the time being. I removed the dash cover and found that as I wiggled the wire terminal connector on the cluster the gauges would go on and off. Checking the soldering and the terminals.

I had the same problem after my battery went out. I just took it to a shop and they said it was the headlamp switch needed replaced which didnt make sense to me because my head lights work great. I the battery reconnect and it is working. also I reset the speedometer that wasnt working by holding the trip button down..it reset and not the speedometer works too!! woo hoo so happy...hopefully it is fixed!

I have a 1999 Dodge Caravan. I wiil be driving and my gauges go out, along with my power locks and rear wiper.(Or other times when I start it my gauges and all wiil be out) At times it will come back on while driving, other times it will come back on after sitting for awhile, all my fuses are good. I read on one of the recall sights something about the card in the instrument panel being damaged with similar issues, anyone know anything about this "card"? Thanks for your help!!!

My van is a 95. Mine was off and on too for about a year or more. Then the last month or 2 there was a loud ticking comming from under the radio area. When the ticking would stop everything would be off. Couldn't even opern the hatch. Someone who had a 94 that did the same thing said that there is a plug in part under the dash between steering column and radio/ heat/ air controls area. Said he just reached under pulled it out and got one at a junkyard for 5 dollars. Didn't know what the part is called. Seems like he said the part was about the size of a Sicker candy bar. Well I couldn't find. Removed center part with ashtray, little storage area etc. There are several things under there and this IS where the ticking came from. I can't even find a picture with the parts labeled. Any Help finding ???

My instrument cluster appeared dead and I had no break or turn signals. The hazard (HZD) fuse was blown! Took me a while to figure it out.

Check the hazard (HZD) fuse. That was my issue. Took me a while to figure out.

I just want to send out a great big THANK YOU to everyone on this site!!! I am a single mom of 2 girls with a very limited income. My instrument panel and blinkers quit working yesterday morning in my 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan. I tried your suggestions to unhook the battery cables for about 30 minutes and IT WORKED!!! I was so excited...you guys just saved me anywhere from $700 to $900 for a new BCM! Only issue I had was the needle was on the wrong side of the pin on my speedometer...but that too was such an easy fix. Had to take the black trim off of the panel and then the clear cover off (this was a little more diffucult, was afraid of dropping those little bitty hex screws inside the dash) and flipped the pin back around and it works GREAT!!!

I cannot say thank you enough to all of you for taking the time to post the same problems with the extremely cheap and easy solution!!!

Thanks for the great tip Pat! I had the same problem...tried the battery disconnect, resetting the trip and then found your post. Sure enough it was the hazard fuse. Thanks again!!!!
