Very true! Well, I have a feeling not all currently open will make it. Not in this economy. I guess only time will tell. I rarely here anything about who or when. But I KNOW at least 3 pdc's are closing.

If it comes down to cost and it just may Orlando local #1649 Fontanan local #509 (in california????) Los Angles local #230 if I had to close down any PDC's these three would be may picks but then again was it back in 2008 that Memphis, was hit by a tornado and laid flat just like they want to do to St.Louis?? |
I I think atlanta, orlando, fontana, chicago, and LA. Just guesses, no info |
Who knows though. I can tell ya one thing, it will be announced soon. I hear from mopar workers they are changing a lot of process/ parts. Maybe preparation?
It was the annex in Memphis that got hit by the tornado, not their main warehouse. Fontana is, and has always been a Mercedes PDC and I believe there is contract language that cuts them loose from MOPAR in 2010. LA was given an ultimatum late last year to get their shit together or else. Then they fired the depot mgr. They're still open so I guess things are improving. I heard SF only has 70 or 80 dlrs that they're servicing and they could be a candidate. Who knows! I don't think anything is going to happen anytime soon. There aren't any new rumors floating around. |

Memphis can go for there are other PDC's not that far away like
St.Louis Atlanta Dallas Minneaplis has Milwaukee just down I94 so they could buy the farm. |

Milwaukee is 1.2 million sq ft, and a national. Minn can't replace them. Minn is small. Think 45 employees, milw bout 200. Memphis has been rumored and I think they are gone. Fontana is definite, patman is right. Dallas is safe, denver is safe, st lou is safe and I think all nationals incl milw are safe. I think It will be some pdc's. They service dealers and chry co has less dealers. Anybody actually heard REAL numbers or facilities? I know people but it's pretty hush hush, scary!

Yeah if they start closing PDC's I think geography will play a big part in who stays and who goes all other things being equal. I don't see ATL AND Orlando closing. One or the other but not both. Minn picked up a bunch of dlrs from one of the Canadian PDC's they closed last Oct. so I think they're safe. They've got great #'s too. You got Cleveland, Memphis, STL and Chicago that are all within what...6-7 hundred miles of each other. STL is a teamster facility. I don't how the UAW feels about that. They've got good #'s too. I don't know how many dlrs each of those lost and that would probably be a factor also. I know SF keeps sayin they're on the chopping block. That's a new HUGE facility that's only only being 1/2 utilized. I heard a while back that there was talk of turning SF into a west coast national, or just using them strictly for sheet metal. All before BK, last fall. I guess time will tell. Hopefully everything stays put and nobody looses their jobs. Been there done that!

Yeah, Geography will be huge. But Atlanta, Orlando, Memphis? Pretty close I would say. Orlando became a large Mercedes carrier, so thier business is down. Minnesota is a good place,#'s wise and the crew (Union & Mgnt). The Canada closings helped Denver and Minn both, they are safe. I think the other change besides geographical will be types of parts stored. If you know what I mean. SF has been 1/2 empty for a long time now, they may be done for. LA was awful #'s wise but has done a complete 180, may save them. But west coast business is VERY low. Chicago is a pretty big dealer network, detroit pdc, well is in detroit making it nearly untouchable... Nationals, of course centerline is safe (detroit), the canadian's are safe, marysville has some large unique parts (hard to store) and I think Milwaukee does too. Milwaukee has been rumored to close for years. But I think they have decent #'s. I do not hear much about marysville so not sure about them. |

Yes as I was saying Minn can go for you have MIL just down I94. But Chicago is even closer to Mil. then Minn. any way you look at it it is going to be a crapshoot. |
