Our 2007 Chrysler Sebring has less than 30K miles on it and it just died while driving. The dealer says that the engine needs to be replaced for $6,000. They want proof the oil was changed, but we can't find receipts. Our research shows that the Sebring has had a history of bad engines. Anyone out there having the same problem? We need proof that this might be a lemon car!

I am currently experiencing the same problem. My 07 sebring currently has 31K and the engine light has been coming on for the last three months then going out. It was repaired for
3K then it broke down again. Now it needs a new engine. The dealership reccommended an engine out of an avenger. I said no to it. Then they found another 07 engine sebring. I am getting that one yet its still "chrysler" I dont think I can make it out on this one. No more chrysler vehicles for me.

chrysler sebring is a great car to drive but unfortunately if you do a quick search online at autobeef dot com you will find hundreds if not thousands of people complaining about the engines, cooling systems, suspension and computer
i myself own one
if your oil light is coming on its just a twenty dollar part
check oil every week
the 01 sebring has been modified after manufactured and they are not covering it either
you can get that for 300
good luck see you on autobeef

my 07 sebring touring started stalling a few days ago. i notice when the engine is idle in drive/reverse/neutral the rpms dip low like every 30sec-2min like its going to stall. eventually it dies after a while of this. also happens while making a slow turn. just dies completely no warning lights or anything. it starts back up no problem. happened as i was pulling into the post office and nearly got rear ended. glad it hasnt happend in an intersection yet! this is very dangerous not to mention embarrasing. bought new in sept 07 and has 9100 miles on it atm. also engine seems to have a gurgle to it when i press the gas pedal - its a really noticeable gurgle if you gun it. also the car seems to have a downshift to it sometimes as i'm slowing somewhere in the 25-30 mph range.

taking it into the dealer 02/13/09

Our 2007 oil light came on and less than 20 miles later the engine seized. Now we have a mechanic telling us a "salvaged" engine with 40,000 plus labor is $2500. Any luck Chrysler will see this as an engine problem for which they are responsible?

I find it very interesting that so many people (not only on this website, but lots of others)are having the same difficulties with the 07 Sebring. Chrysler is not taking responsibility for it's faulty engines, and it is costing the consumer atleast $6,000 for a new engine. This is ridiculous...I purchased a Chrysler because of their good reputation, only to find out now that their reputation is really as tarnished and rotten as the engines they sell us. Chrysler...YOU SUCK

Hi everyone. I'm experiencing a similar problem with my 2007 Sebring. The car needs a new engine at 50k miles. I had a new cooling system installed last year under an extended warranty but the warranty company refuses to pay for this repair. They claim that the head gasket failed due to overheating. However, two mechanics say that the blown head gasket caused the overheating. Anyway, coolant somehow leaked into the engine oil. I'm stuck paying for a new engine and, from what I gather, this is a big time manufacturing defect on Chrysler's part. Keep all receipts and records of any repairs or diagnostics of this problem. Hopefully, when faced with numerous complaints supported by ample documentation, Chrysler will fess up to their error and fix this problem. Otherwise, I'm considering a lawsuit. Post back here if you want to compare notes.

07 Sebring about 80k. check engine light was on for a while, but SEEMED fine when driving. eventually driving to work dash went crazy, ABS and Brake light started to blink. Then a high pitch sound same from the engine bay, car itself started to jump speed and slowed down. i pulled over to sotp and turn it off. tried to turn it back on, dead. replaced alt./starter. worked fine except car had a high pitch sound coming from bearings/pulleys. when driving recently, did it again, this time car jumped and was bascially in neutral. coudlnt move from 65 mph, slowed down and switch to 2nd Low gear. worked ok, but only to certain speed. from 35mph, then 25mph then staying there. ughhh... i bet owners had prev. experiences.

i have an '07 sebring also, i have had several problems lately with door latches=locks=radio=etc. All seem to be related with the driver door only. I have 90K and am getting really nervous using this vehicle as my only transportation daily per 100 miles on the highway=to work and back. I am also experiencing a shimmering and lack of power on acceleration=almost getting me ran over in several occasions. Do I have a lemon that I don't even own or are these easy fixes. Any advice? Or should we all make a claim against faulty equipment that we are paying thousands of $$$ for??? please let me know your opinion.

I have a 2008 Sebring Touring and happy to say the dealership is installing a new engine in my car. The engine is coming from Boston, MA. I had 29,700 miles and I had starting problems on Oct 1 and finally after two weeks I will get my car back Oct 20. The dealership is billing me for the oil change and spark plugs and fuel injection cleaning but I don't know why I should pay. I would think if I owe them I should have the spark plugs, oil filter and oil since they took my old engine. I don't want to pay right away until I speak with Chrysler.
We'll see.

Mars, Lucky you! They should pay all of us for the extra hassle and headaches caused from their cars! So sad that years after this Topic was brought up, we are still seeing problems with these Seebrings....they look great, but don't last. Good luck to us all!:)

There is now a recall on the part that allows us to put the cars in gear....mine went out to, luckily a mechanic friend broke the part where the gear stick is and i use a ScrewDriver to put my car in gear....the more i read these complaints, the more i want to march to the President of Chrysler and speak my mind! Most of us that purchased this car were looking for something resonably priced and dependable....these cars are neither since we are having to pay for the repairs.

I purchased my car in December of 06, and was so in LOVE with my 07 Sebring, until I started having all this different issues with it. The recall part that allows us to put the car in gear, went out on me like a year ago, when leaving my job. Had to get the car toward to the dealers and have it fixed. My AC is out, and now my car is over heating... What HELL???? I tough Fords were bad cars, man Chrysler took the cake!!! If you are reading this postings because you are planning to purchased a Chrysler, DON'T IT!!!! Get a Toyota or Honda, before you get a Chrysler... never again will I buy an American car.

If the engine is overheating and the a/c is out I suggest taking it into the dealership asap. I had experienced the same problems right before my engine blew. Please respond with the source of these problems. Good luck
