I tried removing my 2nd row seats this weekend and couldn't figure out how to get them out. It looks like there was a strap for disengaging the seats, but mine seems to have been removed by the manufacturer because of a recall notice. I'd be very interested in how exactly to remove the seats now also. Thanks.

I have an 05. Took to dealer for the same problem. You Have to push down quite hard on the whole seat while Enganging the release Mechanisium. It will then unlatch and the seat can be lifted out.

If your second row seats have the side airbag curtain in them, then you do not remove the seat at all. That is way the tab on the release bar under the seat has been removed. If you look hard you can see where it used to be attached right in the middle. I know sounds crazy but that is the way it is if you got that option on the second row. You will see an electrical plug under the set that works the airbag. If you can figure out how to get the seat out and unplug the cable, there is a good chance your air bag will deploy in your face which would be bad. The third row should come out pretty easy if you lay the seat all the way down and if you have the muscle to lug them out. Bad design on GM's part for sure. BTW: I have to slide the second row seats all the way forward to get my third row to lay down without standing on them. The headrest on the third row will fold back but it all works much easier if you slide the second row forward first. Again, it is a bad design on GM's part.

I hope this helps.

UPDATE. I took my 2nd row seats out the other day to clean the carpet. I unhooked the battery first as to hopefully not set off the air bags I spoke about above. I unpluged the airbag wire plug under each seat and took a flat head screew driver and turned the latching rod from the end. You can see the slot when you open your sliding doors towards the back of the seat frame. The lock opened and I tilled the seat forward and lifted it out. Took all the seats out behide the front seats and was able to clean the carpet real easy. I reinstalled the seats in reverse order and all is well.
