My first problem is my 2005 Chevy Uplander has developed a engine ticking and I have always had it in for routine maintence. At 85000 miles developed a engine ticking have had carbonite foam in the top of the engine and also sea foam on the bottom with the oil change...ticking is still occuring has there been a recall on this that I am unaware of? Also this is the second time my transmission is slipping the first time was when we bought it directly off the lot and come to find out the robotic arms that install the transmission did not install it correctly...again at 85000 miles the transmission is slipping again when I am at a stop at a stop sign or stop light and then go to accelerate there is a hesistation and then a clunk and then vehicle kicks in and moves. Can anyone advised me if there were two recalls and what can I do legally about these problems?? My uplander just reached 100,000 mile mark!! I can not believe once again we got another car with bad problems!

I have the same problem with the transmission I'm at a stop light and start out and the van jumps, i only have 68,000 miles. I called the dealership and was told I might need a vaule body rebuild which will cost around $1,200-$1,400. I take the van in on Friday 06/17/11. I can't wait to see what this will cost.

At 120,000 Km transmission slipped a few times and I got it serviced (oil) Then I told GM about it and other electrical issues and they fixed the electrical under ( warranty )But said the Tranny was OK. Well it's now at 155,000 Km and near the end of the Power train warranty and the tranny has slipped intermittently over the last month. It goes into the GM shop tomorrow. I hope they can figure out the issue and fix it without giving me a huge diagnostic fee... I paid over $25,000 and the tranny gives up right at the end of the warranty ???? Not impressed !
So much for piece of mind driving. Metro transit is next :-(

Well we made it to 170,000 miles with our 2005 Chevy Uplander, but only after a transmission, a starter, a alternater and now it hesitates from time to time. It has a tick in or near the engine that no one can figure out,but it might be the lifter. Its so hard to find the parts because they are discontinued. We are so tired of it and trying to get rid of the headache.

My 2005 up lander's transmission has no foward gears. The oil does not smell burn, it just happen over night. Any thoughts? Should I spend the money on the transmission?

I think the uplander is garbage. Already I have had to buy 3 batteries, two alternators and a starter. The other day It cut off on me in the middle of traffic and now is making this rattling noise. mechanic says that I need a new engine. I am so bombed.

I own a 2006 Buick Terrazza. Similar to the up lander! My transmission has only 60k on vehicle but my transmission will " apparently " slip and then " slam" into gear from a stop light. Seems to happen only when the vehicle is cold and not fully warm. Also, a sudden " lurch" will give me the impression that my vehicle was rear-ended!

I've seen no answers nor recommendations from anyone on this blog?

Any suggestions?

We had that problem with our 2005 Uplander. Tranny kept slipping. Finally one day, my wife pulls up in front of school to drop off our kids. Starts the van after dropping them off, pust it into gear and nothing. It would go into reverse, but no forward gears. Ended up having to have the entire transmission rebuilt.$2400 later, the transmission is good again. Now having problems with the cooling system and their "100,000 mile no service coolant". Apparently that is a farce as the entire cooling system was full of sediment causing us to replace the radiator, water pump, thermostat, and all of the hoses at a cost of $900. Could have put a nice down payment on a new vehicle for that price.

them know about those problems, because them offer me to repare on a dealer that belones to GM and them paye like 50% off the bill the only problem is that give me a price off 4000 dolares to be repare.so my garage charge me 2000,that means GM try to make a deal with me but honest.the repare off my uplander only cost me 2000 and i have the prouve from my garage transmission problems only happen affter 100000 km and i have only 70000

I had a similar problem and it was the bearing on the hub which is on the spindle where the tire goes.
