There is no dipstick on 1999 Audi. There should be two plugs, a drain and fill plug. You can check the fill plug. For a 1999 you might just want to change the fluid.

this is a sealed unit, without a dip stick - what kind of problem are you having

where are the plugs, and have you replaced the mineral oil with synthetic??

where is the best place to get audi A8 quatro info on 1997

1997 A8
1st, felt like it was downshifting slightly hard. Now (1-2 months later), it just had a firt occurance of not moving away from a stop light while in drive unless more accelerator used and sometimes finding any gear.

Could this be low fluid, or the infamous signs of a complete tranny failure.

I am guessing a drain and fill is recommended as a start? What about additive?

hello and happy new year! i drive an audi a8 2.8 quattro, and suddenly the check engine light came on. any ideas? the engine runs as it always did, i just took the car from the audi service and i can't understand why this light came on!

There is no dipstick. Its more like a finger hole on the under side of the car. There to things you can unscrew and the bigger one is the check hole. Stick your finger in it and if you feel it and it looks good your alright. If it looks black get it replaced, but beware there are different kinds for 4 or 5 speed auto transmissions.

Oh also for the guy with the A8 the same goes for you too. But you might wanna take it to a shop and have themlift it for you, it's not fun to get squashedunder a car.

just wondering if all this talk is about automotic transmission or manual? I'm trying to find the dipstick for a 99 A4 that's automatic. Is it a similar set up at the link you guys provided?

Can anyone recommend a really good mechanic in the greater Toronto area? Each time I take my car for service, they damage something new. I have a 1989 quattro. Also - are there any mechanics I should avoid?

I just got my first AUDI. Its an 96' A4 automatic, non quattro, 2.8. Im a starting out young, I've got almost no experience with the audis. I was hoping someone can give me some advice on the proper a/t fluid I need for the transmission, and what type of oil to use for the engine as well. One more qeustion what type of radiator fluid should I be using? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
