I'm not partial to any particular carmaker, nor do I have a beef with any--the ones I buy are the ones I buy, period, and I've had good luck with just about all makes out there, both US and Offshore.
That said, all this hype about Toyota being junk can easily be said about any carmaker--it all depends on the individual perception.
But individual perceptions don't make it right.
For example, one of our daughters just traded in a 10 year old Avalon with over 250,000 miles on the clock, and that car was flawless from day one--still is--nothing but tires, battery, and brake pads.
Another son had a Caddy STS for about 6 years, and really babied that car. It spent a good part of his 75,000 miles in the service dept at the dealer--everything you could think of went wrong with it.
So is either one of those products junk?
Not in my opinion.
I own a couple of Silverado pickups (for our business), and they've been used hard, but I'll probably replace them with the same make because I like them.
Just because my son had a bad experience with his Caddy doesn't mean I'll shun GM from now on.
And just because my daughter had good service from her Avalon doesn't mean I'll run out and buy one tomorrow either. I might do so next time around though--if I like what I see.
I think all you Toyota bashers are just anti everything that doesn't meet your approval.

Ok but think of it like this…

We were driving in a Toyota Camry back in 05 and the front wheel fell off, bouncing and rolling right into an endangered spotted owl nestled in total comfort on the lower branch of a rather large and pristine tree. I know deep in my heart that if I were in a Chevy, that wheel wouldn’t have fallen off and killed the innocent spotted owl and damaged the once beautiful branch of an otherwise virgin tree. This is yet another example of how Toyota is bad for the environment, and people for that matter…

True Story.
So about 5 years ago, one of my drivers had the rear U-Joint break on one of our Chev pickups, and the drive shaft removed itself from the vehicle, falling on the road, bouncing along, and it squashed a spotted frog--An endangered species BTW.(Well, the frog part isn't quite true!)
So does that mean I shouldn't buy any more GM products, and go on this site and repeatedly proclaim GM as "junk"?

Actually something like that happened to me about 10 years ago only the truck was a “big” dump truck.(Seriously) the shaft dropped out on the interstate, four cars were involved, all had blown tires and dented rims. It was a disaster. To make a long story short, the company paid for new rims and tires after submitting bills. It was a hassle but totally unavoidable on our part.
