Untapped potential: Latino numbers formidable, but not all can vote

Full story: El Paso Times

Latinos will be the largest ethnic group in Texas in five years. The group will surpass the 50 percent needed to become the majority of the state's population in 2029 but they will not dominate the population that is old enough to vote until 2033.

Latinos will be an asset to the voting public if they vote for issues and want to make our country a better place for all. If they do as the Democrats want and vote their race then they are just a bunch of useless douches and we do not need them. The vote is the greatest privilege our country bestows upon us. To throw it away because you are racist and want to hurt a race of people is the worst thing you can do. Liberals have already ruined the black vote. Now they want to ruin the Latino vote too. Look at the state our country is in now. Divided along racial lines, in debt up to our ears, spending like there is no tomorrow. Well, if we keep voting in liberal douches maybe there will be no tomorrow. Remember when the liberal douche tells you to vote for him because "conservative whitey" don't like you, ask yourself "where do I hear most racial hate speech coming from?" If you are honest with yourself you will see it is the liberal douches that spit racial hatred like kids spit sunflower seeds. Take that you liberal douche posers.

We are near the tipping point of those who pay no taxes outnumbering those who do. If there was amnesty tomorrow, and those illegals were allowed to vote, that could make the difference ... and that is not good. But it is what democrats want ... a governing elite ... a socialist tyyanny ... where the progressive dictate the rules of society and pontificate from their ivory towers.

Yeah, well that would require being educated enough TO vote! When all you're concerned with is where to get your next beer and handout, it's no wonder voting doesn't take place. The educated hispanics that actually READ and take time to inform themselves of how EVERYTHING works (such as the AZ immigration law) rather than acting on what bro Pepe' says when he's riding a drunken, emotional
"hate Whitey" rollercoaster, will make smart choices.

The writer of this article assumes that unemployed hispanics will vote pro-abortion and pro-illegal immigration which would mean they are ignorant voters as uncontrolled illegal immigration certainly affects employment of hispanics.

IF the immigrant came legally, they understand the process and reasons for it.

They know if they bring the prejudaces that brought them here, they will change the US to the former country...

Assimilate, learn the language,,,follow the laws..

From an ethnic view El Paso is a great snapshot of how America will look in 50 years. Politically if that's the case, we are in trouble.

Latinos will still be a minority if we Deport all those that are here Illegally ! What we need is less Illegal Border crossers . Latinos as a whole do not like being lumped into the same barrel as Illegals . They are just as angry and Mad as Most Legal American Citizens That enough is enough !

Americans earned the privilege of voting their conscience, back when our Nation was formed.

The only "wasted" votes are the ones that are not cast on election day.

Voters are ALL Americans, and we come from diverse cultures and heritages.

Please leave PREJUDICES, JUDGEMENTAL OPINIONS, ETHNICITIES, ALLEGIANCES TO OTHER COUNTRIES/FLAGS, ETC. out of my beloved Country's Democratic Process!

Thank You Very Much -

After 52 years of seeing what voting accomplishes, or better yet, what it doesn't accomplish, I can certainly understand why people don't bother doing it.

All voting really does is change the faces and the names. Many times it doesn't even do that much. Voting is a panacea. It makes the peons feel like they have control, when in reality, they control nothing. Control of government, from top to bottom, is not something We The People partake in. Control of the US government is owned by big money, big business and big power.

Voting is often nothing more than a choice between the lesser of two evils. It accomplishes very little in the life of the average American. It helps make a rich politician richer. It helps big business have friends in high places. It helps create divides among the people themselves.

The "changing of the guard" every few years doesn't do a thing for most of us except give us something to gripe about. Now, if they let us vote on issues, I'd be at the polls every day. But to elect some self-absorbed, power-hungry politician to take the place of another self-absorbed, power-hungry politician seems futile to me.

Being too young to vote isn't all of it, theres the issue that half that 37% isn't even here legally. Not that this ever stopped a crooked democrat. Without the illegal, convict and dead they wouldn't even have a political party.

Latinos have made measured strides educational wise in the state of Texas, except in Houston. Bill White's actions speak louder than his words, his policies and direction have made a wreck of the public educational system in Houston. Hispanics in Houstion continue to suffer under Bill White's rule, and now we risk spreading his influence from the city level to the highest office in the state.

For 200 years everything in this country was based on race, and guess which one ruled? Now that minorities are "invading", many of you no longer want race to be an issue. Vote your conscience! you say, while ignoring the fact that no person of color would even be considered for public office during those aforementioned 200 years. You are hypocrites who don't know or ignore history. Be careful that Hispanics don't become too educated, because then they will see that the reason we are in debt is the useless, unending wars we are involved in.
I am no liberal, or conservative-I am a historian not afraid of the truth.

"Latinos" are not a cultish group in which everyone thinks alike. They are individual Texans who make up their own minds as do others with brains. This constant grouping of Hispanics into a voting-block is racist and demeaning.

How foolish. Everything stays the same? Where is the government (Democrat) segregation that was part of everything - from where you ate, lived, and went to church? Much has changed. What hasn't is that some folk still follow the political party that created and enforced segregation: Southern Democrats.

Yeah, come on!! When the illegals leave Arizona I want to see the rush of Americans flowing into Arizona for those 0h-so-wanted jobs that the illegals are holding right now.(sarcasm) We should be able to see it now since many of them have already left. So Arizona, how's that coming along?

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Gemini

This is a good time to take stock of your actions and the direction you're going in. Are your efforts getting you anywhere or leading you astray and scattering your energy? If you're putting in the work but not moving forward, you're not on track. The old adage 'cut your coat according to your cloth' is good advice. Be simple and purposeful and don't waste time with things that get no practical results.
