I watched the dash cam several times. All I can say is "wow". First off, the officer that came up screaming with his siren should have shut it off when he got to the scene. These situations are very charged and everyone's blood is pumping. That siren only makes it more difficult for ANYONE to hear voice commands, each other, etc. at a scene. The suspect laid prone (face up) on the roadway allowing anyone to see he had no weapons. I know this sounds arm chair quarterback here, but when you had several other officers drawing down on this guy, why didn't one reholster his weapon and approach and cuff the guy? And once he complied with the order to lay down why did they have him get up (increasing the potential for an altercation)...I can't judge because I was not there but this video really makes one stop and go "wow". Oh, and a little dark humor (forgive if I offend) he wasn't technically naked...looked like he had on socks or shoes(?)

My biggest problem here is every one asking why the officers could not contain the naked man. None of us no anything other than what the media is saying. This man could have been mentailly ustable or on drugs. I agree with who ever said let things take there course until there is more information. As far as the one who said that cops are killers remember that the next time you need help or some one is hurting you and you have to call an officer!

The media did not make up what was on that video

My brother and father both told me about this incident and it sounded horrific and totally unjustified and unnecessary! I just watched the video. In the first minute, all three officers had their guns drawn and the suspect face down on the ground. It should have not gone any further than this!!! This is the point they should have put the cuffs on the young man and put their guns away. Two of the officers could have done this while the third covered them with his gun until he was cuffed. After they let him up it still looked like they had plenty of opportunities to take him down fefore they opened fire. DISGUSTING.

Most of the people who have left a message in this forum have absolutely no clue what occurs at a family disturbance call/domestic. They (police) are having to go to someones residence and try to fix a problem that has taken years to create. I love reading what all of the experts have to say, you can certainly tell that Round Rock is next to Austin. It does not matter how big an officer is or why his "night stick" was taken away. Bottom line is, he felt that their lives were threatened and with that being said, Chapter 49 of the TX penal code states that an officer can use deadly force. For all of you who are stocking shelves at the local HEB, you do not see people on the internet telling you how to do your job, so why are you trying to tell an officer how to do his? It takes 2.5 seconds to decide if you are going to pull the trigger and it allows people like this months and years to Monday night quarterback. Get a clue!
Lives are not at stake stocking the shelves at the supermarket and those jobs do not require public scrutiny. Police officers are hired to protect and serve the public, our tax dollars pay their salaries and our lives are sometimes put in the hands of these men and women. These jobs should be highly scrutinized by the public who pay their salaries and who they are sworn to protect and serve. I will not pretend to tell these officers how to do their jobs and no I wasn't there, but the video evidence in this case alone is pretty damning and as a concerned citizen, I will scrutinize it. Shame on the grand jury for not taking this to trial and I hope there is some way for the family of this young man to do what they did not.

But is not such action by law enforcement somewhat common in Williamson County? Look at what is going on in Georgetown where a former officer raped a woman and then almost got off scott free [2 years jail time is almost scott free]. Fortunately, the judge refused this light sentence and now Fennell will have to stand trial in September. I can imagine how little effort the DA is going to put into this trial, the SOB!

DUDE read the article. The RR Police do not have stun guns or other means. He was violent and attacked an officer. He took his own life. Sad but true.

wow put a sock in it...im sure if people new that calling the cops would result in death NO ONE WOULD CALL. apparently you are heartless and something like this hasnt happened to you, or you are one of the cops that are sticking up for these murderers

Please do us all a favor and stay in NY. Do you really think that these law officers were sitting around thinking.."Damn I wish I could kill someone today!!"?? do you? Unfortunately the kid snapped. and Unfortunately the only safe way to end the situation at hand was chosen. Until this world is rid of scum (AND I AM NOT REFERRING to this young man), we all have to protect ourselves, cop or not....

So what if, just what if, he was running to get a weapon? What if he was running toward some kids saying "I'm gonna kill them!". What if he was running back to "his house" and was saying "I'm gonna kill that B*&*%H1!".... AHH LET HIM GO, HE'S NAKED!...

Dude...go hug a tree.

for those who have not seen the tape, the officers
had numerous chances to disarm the suspect.either the lack of training or lack of mental capacity lead to these officers becoming cold blooded killers.this is coming from someone with 17 years of law enforcement experience.
obviously you didnt see the tape as you say you did. The subject had a deadly weapon in his hand the whole time and no officer is taught to jump a person who has a deadly weapon. so Mr. SWAT- your wrong and you would have been hurt.
