rip off!
how can anglos run a mexican restaurant, it is like mexicans running the best italian restaurant in el paso, not going to happen here or in austin, jesus christ! also the cheap elbow they throw in the story about their restaurant being a little more upscale that is why she doesn't drink her soup from her taco bowl, cheap name saving story, plus the westside part of el paso is the blandest part of the city in all honesty, maybe chuco's tacos can built a franchise there, peace out. |

Oh boy, calm down, it's just a restaurant.
|
Hell the east side sucks major balls. Lots of idiots driving 1987 Nissan Sentras and running stoplights to get to the nearest strip mall full of bland Mexican food. The east side is Jrz. without any culture whatsoever. |

Dumbest statement of the day. |

Maybe they should hang up 8x10 autographed pictures of all those indicted in El Paso. That would make every El Paso expatriate feel at home while they eat their bogus Chico's tacos.
|
|
Yeah, but do they have plastic seats, a jukebox playing old Loverboy songs, and a guy named "Beto" cleaning the tables?!?!?? No.

I dont know what happened to last nights thread but like I said:
The more I go to 10th the more I like it better than Chicos. 10th is clean!! 10th has flat screen tv's!! 10th sells beer!! 10th shows tribute to El Paso with UTEP banners!! |
|
You all may wanna read the story one more time.. Cornell and Ramsey don't own the place they just happened to be the patrons interviewed for the story.
Sahagun and Jose Luis Ortega, seem to own the place. |

I've been to 10th Street Tacos and the food is pretty good. The tacos at Chicos are definitely better than 10th Street Tacos but the menu at 10th offers alot more....plus BEER!!! I like that the restaurant pays tribute to both El Paso and Austin by placing UTEP and Longhorn flags on the walls.

I’m also a former El Pasoan living in the Austin area for several years now, and I agree that 10th St Tacos in Austin is far and away tastier than El Paso’s Chico’s. Better quality of ingredients no doubt, as 10th Street fare tastes fresh; and they don’t smell like leftovers from the kitchen sink! Furthermore, I think use of the word upscale in this article was used to politely suggest that the place is more sanitary. Chico’s was a food staple for me while growing up in El Paso and took the place of many Austin HS cafeteria meals when I was in high school in the 1970s. But Chico’s didn’t invent the rolled taco and there’s always room for improvement. Sahagun simply took the concept and made it better and introduced it to another market. |

They have flat screen TVs showing EPSN and the music is not Loverboy but the servers and table cleaners could very well be named Beto, or on the day I was last in there, Tencha, Leti…or Debbie. |

This is what Chicos should have evolved too. The owner is a greedy bean er and wont put any money back into his own business and its a shame. How bout upgrading ALL of your locations and by upgrade I mean at least fixing your bathrooms so employees can wash their hands. Why does everything have to be better in other cities?

Because ELP mentality says this.... "We dont like to change. We dont want to take chances. It costs too much money. Way over there? We dont like to see others succeed (hence 10th Street owners). We are very self centered, We like to have a very insulated way of thinking since we are so far from anywhere else but Juarez. We are very against any sort of over achieving. We are very conservative in that they do not want anything to change. We like to watch good people who come here or are from here be driven away by us here who are threatened by anyone whom we perceive to be a threat to us." |

I think it's good idea to have a similar restaurant joint in other cities to serve this infamous rolled taco in tomatos saucy bowl to any fellow el pasoans who missed it. I will definitely make a stop at 10th whenever I am in Austin to test it out. I'm from el paso and I always hate it down there. I'm glad that I moved out of el paso. Chico's Taco is a greedy bastard who won't allows this restaurant to be spread all over Texas. Use a common sense, hence to what we got Mcdonald, Whataburger, Wendy, etc. Why can't Chico's Taco be a part of it too?
