Rape should be punished by many years in Jail. However, having been to Australia, I believe that as with many ex British colonies, it suffers from a squeamishness about sex. Surely, if the police looked the other way at street prostitution (I dont mean under age prostitutes), given the current economy people have to make a living, perhaps if Australian men had the money to pay for sex (most of the ones I met were so tight they squeaked when they walked), perhaps if more Australians were travelled, rapes wouldnt happen so much. I also suspect that as with Europe and Canada, much of the rape is committed by immigrants. Perhaps you need to screen them more.
