I admire this idea, and would like to do it myself... however at my age I haven't saved enough to get overseas much less everywhere she's going. Just exactly how did a young girl such as she save that much?

No matter, I guess. Good luck, and enjoy life if you can.

Yeah, wish I had that kind of money to be able to do that right out of high school.

Military wouldn't accept me on account of a handicap, so I was out of luck for the traveling scene.

I doubt she makes it though unless she is traveling with a friend.

Too many things can go wrong.

I bet she will be just fine!! Of course there are precautions that she has to take, just like any traveller would, but she is probably safer in other countries than she is travelling to San Diego!!

No, but I've stayed at one and it was not a pleasant experience. They are usually co-ed, as in you are sleeping in the same room with a bunch of people (guys and gals) in the bunk beds around you! You spend most of the night trying not to fall asleep because you don't know if you are in the room with a rapist or not. They turn the water off at night. The climate control isn't good. Bring your own sheets, the ones on my bed were filled with dirt/sand and probably weren't washed before I got there. Not sure which it was because there was no light in that room. There were creepy crawlies in the beds. Search under your covers before you crawl in, one place I stayed had a poisonous scorpion in one of the beds under the covers. NEVER leave your suitcase unzipped because things WILL crawl into them! Be aware of bedbugs also.

Travel is wonderful fun and the adventure is worth it if you are watching your back because no one else will unless you have a travel companion that you know and can trust to do so. Hope the trip is everything you hoped for and then some! Stay safe!!!

I believe she has saved for the past few years.. she is 23 so it isn't like she just started working. I think this is great for her. Good for you Lea. Take a chance, get out of this town and see the world! I am sure most nay sayers secretly wish they had the guts to do it! And as far as the hostels go, I think she has stayed in them before on her backpacking trip so it isn't like she doesn't know what she is in for. Some people just enjoy the challenge and what great memories she will create!

I think it is awesome and certainly her business to do what she wants. I just hope she is extra careful, the world is a vast spectacular place but it also holds many, many dangers. If it was my child I would be proud of her ambition and independence but so very, very scared.

Lea, follow your heart, but be smart. Ask God to be your guide. Can't wait to read the site about your days ahead. Prayer is powerful. Keep praying for God will see you through this.

There are more good people in the world than bad. She will have the time of her life meeting some great people.
I've been to many different countries that were supposedly hostile to Americans and was treated wonderfully by the locals. Don't believe all the crap in the news.

LOL!!!! your comment reminds me of when i was in England earlier this year. I had english people think i was an englishman from Blackpool!!!!!

Thing is no one cares who you are in other countries so long as you don't make a d!ck of yourself.

Travelling alone can have it's downsides but it isn't any different from a person travelling from one side of their own country to the other by themselves.

Have fun and do as much travelling as you can before settling down.

The worst is when your getting mid age and social ties now bind you down.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Leo

Perhaps it's the fact that it's Christmas Eve and everyone is busy, but you can't help feeling that you're walking on eggshells around certain people. Their emotions are very close to the surface and could erupt at a moment's notice, perhaps in a storm of tears or a fit of pique. Calm them down and ask if you can do anything to help.
