Former Atl. Cop Indicted For Murder

How about a follow-up regarding former Atlanta police officer Raymond Bunn.

I hope Paul Howard gets the Nifong treatment after this is over. Every agency that has investigated this case has cleared the officer. But just because Howard is friends with the dead little thugs grandmama, he indicted the cops. Sickening!

The problem with most police officers is that they dont take the job to protect and serve ,they take it based on authority and power and when its challenged it therefore becomes personal because it is somewhat very personal from the officers viewpoint from the very beginning and not well received. Combine that with arrogance and you possibly have a rogue cop(not every cop) and its a few bad apples that needed to be weeded out and this should send a clear messsage to the rest.This young man did not have to die this way.

Wow. I'm so glad it's ok to stereotype cops like this, but what would happen to anyone who made such broad generalizations about the worthless thug that was stealing from cars and tried to mow down a cop?? No, he didn't need to die this way, but he CHOSE to put himself in that situation. he CHOSE to break into cars, and he CHOSE to try to run down a cop who tried to confront him. I don't care if the kid thought it was just a concerned citizen, he knew he was caught and tried to RUN DOWN the person doing the RIGHT thing, cop or not.

God forbid a cop wants to go home at the end of his shift after putting up with obnoxious, worthless thugs who weren't raised right and think it is their given right to challenge authority every chance they get.

The challenging of authority is a common placed fixture in american society with this generation,,the plan..do just the opposite..look at the Bush Administration..lead by example..phantom you must be kidding???..what would have happened if that stolen vehicle had crashed and killed innocent people due to the shots fired by the police officer..thank God that did not happen.As I stated in a previous post he had to pay the piper for his actions (cop) and yet ..nobody won in this situation

The car was heading towards the cop. That's why he shot at the car. The perp did die. Guess what?! No innocent people were killed! Maybe the cop assessed the situation before he shot! Wow! What a novel idea...give the cop the benefit of the doubt over some low life thug who had nothing in life to look forward to but prison sentences anyway!

They were in a parking lot. The kid gets shot, worst case scenario is he let's off the gas when he dies and runs into some parked cars.

Every agency that investigated this nonsense sided with the cop. Paul Howard is a joke.

There was no need for bunn to firer his weapon. Police stick together. It is obvious that the agencies that investigated this crime were bias. It is sad that metro Atlanta Police officers are writting comments that support Bunn. Just to set the record straight, the young man was not breaking into vehicles at the incident location. He was not in a stolen car, and had just left a business exstablishment in the area. Ex-officer Bunn knows that his actions were not warranted. He should pay for his actions. He had the oppotunity to step aside, but he chose to play John Wayne, and took a life without just cause. I hope he is found guilty. Maybe some of you police officers that are aruthoring these comments will learn a lesson. Take him down, and take him down hard.

Everything in this article relating to the young man who was shot is "alledged." Everything the officer did is not so prefaced. In our socitey those who protect and serve, police officers and soldiers, are never provided with the inocent until proven guilty basic right while drug dealers, car theives and pedophiles and other criminals are portrayed as misunderstood folk with something in their past that gives them the right to violate decent citizen' basic rights until the cows come home. Those of you who are so quick to judge the actions of the police are the ones who scream the loudest when you need their help. I hope we do not create a society in which the police are so harassed that they hesitate even a second when your life is in danger. That one second may mean your family will have to bury you while the thug runs off to kill another day.

Cops are very nearly worshipped in our society. On endless TV shows, in movies, police procedural novels, in the newspapers and on the nightly news, police are usually presented as virtue personified -- as if it's heroic to button up a blue shirt and pin on a badge.

It's not.

What some cops do while wearing the uniform makes them heroes ... and what other cops do, on-duty and off, reveals them as thugs.

Well, if you're looking for more news of police heroism, you've come to the wrong place. If you want to be told that the policeman is your friend, that cops are the good guys and robbers are the bad guys, you'll find such reassurance on every 'news network,' in every newscast around the clock, and in every cop show from Dragnet to NYPD Blue.

This page serves a different purpose, for anyone brave enough to face facts:

All cops are not heroes.

But because of the myth that "all cops are heroes," there's minimal call for disciplining bad cops, and maximal call for "forgiving," and "understanding" the tough work of being a cop.

And that's despicable. And terrifying.

Police work is tough. It's among the most difficult jobs in the world. And turning a blind eye toward police misconduct -- allowing crooked, corrupt, outright criminal cops to have long careers in law enforcement -- only makes it more difficult and dangerous for the good cops.

Letting cops get away with crime ...

... Or "punishing" police misconduct with long, leisurely paid suspensions ...

... Or probation ...

... Or sweet deals that allow a policeman's own police record to be expunged ...

... Or any of the other special treatments cops typically receive when they're accused of wrong-
doing ...

... is assinine and counterproductive.

We'd like to see good cops get a raise, and bad cops held accountable for their crimes.

Any other policy is an invitation to savages and brutes -- to button up a blue shirt, pin on a badge, and break the law with impunity.

Just goes to show racism is alive and well. This Cory kid had Cocaine on him plus bags of marijuana with probable intent to sell. Just another kid who thinks he is beyond justice and paid for it with his life. This Officer did what he HAD to do. Had a split second to think about it. What the hell would you do!! You would shoot as he did.

I can tell by looking at his picture that the dead guy was a criminal.

Let's get this trial started already. We want to see the evidence and know if Officer Ray Bunn needs needle or not.

Finch, everyone who pays attention to the Atlanta forum knows you're prejudiced against cops and frequently make stuff up and blatantly lie.

The only people who think this cop should be on trial are the dead perp's friends, his family, and Paul Howard. Every EXPERT witness has sided with the cop, except for the outside on that Paul Howard had to pay for.(Apparently, APD, GBI, and FBI experts are good enough for every other caser, but when your friends perp grandson gets killed, you gotta shop around for someone who will say what ever you want)

Even with the anti-cop sentiment in Atlanta after the Neal Street shooting, Bunn doesn't have to worry because the evidence, the witnesses, and the experts all agree he was right. Paul Howard's PAYED expert may disagree with APD, the GBI, and the FBI, but I'm sure the jury is smart enough to see through Howard's bias and racism.

Of course the police experts back the police. They always do. The trial will have experts from both sides, police and non-police so that we can see whose experts are telling the real truth. I only want the death penalty if he is guilty.

CORRECTION: Neal Street wasn't just a shooting. It was an execution and evidence planting.

Not only do they have to say they agree with the cops versions of events, but they have to DETAIL in their reports how the cop's story matches the physical evidence and what the witnesses saw.

Why can't you give the cop the benefit of doubt? There is a mountain of evidence FOR the cop, but you want to blame it all on conspiracies and paid off witnesses. You're a conspiracy nut! do you sleep with a tin foil hat on to keep the CIA from reading your brain waves?

If Officer Ray S. Bunn raises some reasonable doubt at the trial, then I am prepared to believe. FBI / GBI have lots of pro-police bias (especially GBI). I know you don't want to believe that, but it is true.

Finch has shown himself not only to be prejudiced, biased, and a liar, but now we can add "hypocrite" to his resume'.

Finch is clearly biased and prejudiced against cops. People like him love to throw out the phrase, "innocent until proven guilty" when some dirtbag has been arrested for the 19th time in the last two years. But when a COP is accused of something, Finch doesn't believe in innocent until proven guilty. Finch expects the cop to have to prove his innocence.

How do you know the GBI has a pro-police bias? How many GBI agents have you met in your lifetime?

Police always believe fellow police. It is called "The Blue Wall." Is that happening in Officer's Bunn's case. I think it might be, but only a trial can tell us for sure.

If he does get the death penalty I think he should be made to wear his uniform. To send a message.

If he is innocent then they can hire him back on the force.
