'Old' Indians in Australia say youngsters invite attacks

Full story: The Times of India

MELBOURNE\SYDNEY: Conspicuously missing from the entire issue of Indian students being attacked in Australia is the Indian immigrant community that has distanced itself from the young community of Indians, particularly those who are ``well settled'' and consider the whole brouhaha surrounding the attacks on students as ``unnecessary''. The ...

Young indians should learn from their elders.
Maybe they will learn some humility and stop insulting Australians.

They are just plain nasty, arrogant and low rent and I can understand why the established Indian community are concerned. I don't want to be near or interact with them. So they should take their attitude back to India and crap on their lowly Indian compatriots.

I never did anything to any Indian, in fact I gave some of them food, money and free telephone calls but I am now starting to have second thoughts about been friendly with those Indians. I was for 35 minutes in a Taxi Zone today in Footscray 3011 near the city of Melbourne, every Yellow Taxi driver that arrived were Indians and they waved with their left arm or said to me that they did not feel like taking me on the Taxi to where I wanted to go. The funny thing is that those Indians Taxi drivers were taking other Indians, Asians and Muslims but not the white people like myself.
Those Indians Taxi drivers were not young they were between 30 to 50 years old but they all refuced to take me. When two Asian women were laughting when they saw what the Indians Taxi drivers were doing I began to think that the Indians Taxi drivers of the Yellow Taxi Cabs refuced to take me because I am white. The Indians were calling the Australian people Racist two weeks ago on the Street of Melbourne but the Indians Taxi drivers does not consider themselves Racist when they refuced to take white people on the Taxi of the Footscray area. Why should I a white man have to respect the Indians when the Indians have no respect for me? If the Indians want trouble and more enemies they surely found it for not showing respect to me. If I ever become Prime Minister of Australia those Indians Taxi drivers will be trown on the sea with the Yellow Taxi Cabs so that they go back to India.

My nephew goes to uni and has this assessment about indian students.
They are rude because they smoke everywhere, drop trash, speak loudly in other languages and push in lines at canteens.
They are not popular with anyof the other students.

I wonder how many people will bother to read all of this article - it's the most helpful I've read yet and it's not biased one way or the other. It's actually telling it how it is from the "old settled Indians" point of view who aren't at all impressed with what this younger generation are carrying on about.

This paragraph in particular I think is sad but in my opinion was a predictable outcome...

""The attacks have also created a fear psychosis which the Indian community is finding difficult to deal with. They say that the series of attacks and the reporting that followed has after a point become counter-productive with copy-cat crimes surfacing and even minor incidents of brawls being branded as racist attacks. An Indian local who has lived here for 15 years, says, that she felt at ease driving around and doing her work.``Now when I step out of the car, I first look around. I never felt like that before,’’ she says.""

And these two paragraphs - interesting...

""Local Indian community members here rue Amitabh Bachchan declining the honorary doctorate being conferred on him by an Australian university, in reaction to ``racist'' attacks.``I cannot figure out the difference between a Sri Lankan and a South Indian. How can an assailant figure that out,'' questions Aparna Krishna, who moved to Melbourne three years ago and lives here with her two children.

But the resentment for this student agitation is most possibly rooted in the ``embarrassment’’ the old Indians feel on account of the students' behaviour. Rakesh, a local businessman in Sydney scoffed,``Illiterate Indians,'' while another elderly Indian said,``The way they behave in trains is deplorable. They listen to loud music and talk loudly on the phone.’’

All these foreign students think we are all stupid because we let them come and take advantage of us. They couldn't understand why Aus
gives them the same rights as a citizen of Aus,
get the same pay, the same right to take a job, the same status, except can't vote. Aus even lets them bring their spouses and kids to live here while on student visa to live like us.

Reading the replies that are attached to the news article is a real eye opener.
The younger generation has absolutely no respect for their elders.

If what you say is true you need to report those indians to the taxi board and to the goverbnment department and they will be sacked or reprimanded. That behaviour is not allowed
