"The three men representing the people of New Mexico in the Congress, Jeff Bingaman, Tom Udall, and Harry Teague are all making a huge mistake if they vote for this 2,000-page health care bill, against the wishes of the majority of New Mexicans". You had better get prepared because they are going TO VOTE for it! The biggest mistake in your comment is "the three men representing the people of New Mexico". Whatever makes you believe that they are representing you? These people are so far removed from their constituents, they couldn't find their way back if they wanted to. That's what happens when "the people" get lazy and pay no attention to the fact that "they" are supposed to be ruling this country. If you're really opposed to this fiasco and bankruptcy called "a health care plan", you'd better get rid of "these three men" now by starting to circulate recall petitions before it is too late.

Jeepers? So WHAT? All those you mentioned that will be using the public health care. THEY ARE ALL USING MEDICADE anyway! So, what's the difference? We are ALL paying for all of that NOW! hose of us that have NO Coverage can't even qualify for medicade, unless we lie to get it. Many of us haven't been to a doctor in over 10 yrs. because we are too busy feeding our families and paying our bills and trying to keep our heads above water in this sorryass state. Bill Richardson needs to go to Hollyweird and try to get into movies, he likes his mug on TV so much. He's done nothing but hurt NM. Just look how fat he is. He's not hurting for food or anything else. Thankx to us.

How do you know what the majority of New Mexicans wishes are? I have yet to meet one person here who doesn't want some sort of coverage for pre-existing conditions, lower out of pockets expense or would like some kind of option to purchase lowcost insurance for their family.
Who do you talk to? Medicare recipients?
And don't tell me - Oh, I paid into medicare I am entitled
Here is an idea.
1st - Get rid of Medicare 2nd - People who are now on Medicare get 50% of their monies back so they can buy private insurance (You know the one like Cobra, 800 a month, won't take pre-existing condition)
Than we can start with a clean slate. And THAN ask people again.
Would you like an option for lowcost health insurance which accepts pre-existing conditions.
I wonder how the poll would look than.

I just looked at my paystub. Medicare deduction is $ 34.58 per paycheck. x 26 weeks is 899.09 x 40 years (average worklife in the USA) is $ 35963.00 So I round it up for you. Let me give you 36,000 back. You go and buy your own plan. You know the private one.. Average hospital stay is 3000.00 per night. I don't want to hear it anymore with the whole medicare entitlment garbage. Lets get rid of it, let's start fresh. Medicare is lowcost healthinsurance by the govnerment which takes pre-existing conditions

I'm a constituent and I'm FOR the health care bill. I've already e-mailed my support for the health care bill to all three of my representatives. They are elected democrats who ran on a democratic platorm. They will support the democratic agenda. If they side with the noisy Republicans, then they will surely lose Democratic support in the next election. Will the Republicans vote for them in the next election if they vote against health care reform? I don't think so.

From Soundoff: I read in your paper today that they're going to widen Del Rey all the way to a divided highway. When I first moved here it was a two-lane road, it was 45 mph. Now that they've got a divided highway and two lanes each way it's down to 30 mph. I wonder if they're going to go down to 25 mph when they're done. ***** Depends on how badly the city needs money. There is no place in the world who has such poorly designed traffic patterns. There is NO VALID REASON that a major feeder (LOHMAN) has a speed limit of 35 mph. Why is the speed limit 35 on Don Roser, but 30 mph on Triviz? Inconsistencies abound and Mr Johnson of the Traffic Department will not respond to requests for clarification.

You may be very surprised to discover that once you are old enough to be covered by Medicare, you will still be paying for it. The minimum payment is $96. per month per person and the maximum is $308. per month per person. Add those premiums to the cost of your supplemental insurance and you have a substantial monthly outlay. The combined coverage of Medicare and the supplemental is less than that of what you had before going on Medicare. The net result is you pick up the tab for routine exams until you have met the deductible. Your assumption that health care reform will lower your outlay for medical coverage has no basis yet because the politicians have yet to put a price tag on it for the taxpayers.

Let's do some simple math. The high end number of uninsured is 20-million. Divide 1.2 TRILLION by 20-million and you get 60-thousand for each uninsured. Write them a check each year to pay for their insurance, and the government would actually save money.

"The Republicans are going to do whatever the insurance industry wants them to do to help their cause" you should pull your head out of the sand and really try and read all the proposed healthcare bills by the dems, then you will see whose is in bed with the insurance companies. It is the dems that wont let people shop across state lines for health insurance. It is the dems who are protecting their friends in the health care insurance industry. there are over 1400 insrance companies to chose from however, each state is allowed only to provide just a few for its citizens

The Federal government does not have the authority to compel any citizen, at any time, to purchase anything! Read the 18 enumerated powers people!! James Madison had it right! Health insurance reform IS needed, but this is not the way to do it. Wake UP AMERICA!

"If you think the taxes are bad now, wait until you get socialized medicine."
The US has had socialized medicine for 45 years via Medicaid and Medicare. Even if socialized medicine is not expanded to include those of us who are not elderly, disabled or indigent, taxes will have to go up to pay for the socialized medicine that we already have. Taxes will also have to go up to pay for Social Security, which is labelled as something other than a tax to make it more palatable. Taxes will have to go up to pay for the interest on the national debt. Taxes will have to go up to compensate for lower corporate earnings and lower househod income. The future of the US involves higher taxes for many reasons. If a new health care payment system is created properly, per capita expenditure on health care will go down although taxes will go up. But, it won't happen because America doesn't have the will or common sense.
