This is another county project that cost taxpayers money and I'm not sure I see how it's going to take care of itself.

You are correct.

Lamar shows a Georgia One Fund (Bryon H Reece Home Place Restoration Grant for $175,000

Invoices from LAST YEAR the cost was over $819,000.

They are STILL building out there.(Went by yesterday)

Just think of the nice Firehouse we could have provided for the Firemen that risk their lives daily for us.

Or What about the over crowed jail?

But No Lamar has PRIORITIES.

Lamar's past campaign:

Re elect Lamar paris for Union County Commissioner Lamar has the Ability to Plan the future for Union County.

According to the county outside auditors, Union County has more Grants on the books by far than any other county they audit. Why because it is a priority of my administration and the department heads. These grants are a large part of what makes it possiblefor our taxes to be low. Unfortunately, grants are not available for all projects in a county. Thatis why being fiscally conservative is a must to keep taxes down and still provide exceptional services to the public.

Total grants past four years more than total property tax collected in 2007
equal to approx $300 per person in county

**********

What Lamar fails to tell you is "WHERE DID THE GRANT MONEY COME FROM?"

FROM YOUR TAXES

Did Union County need these projects?

NO

How much SPLOST & COUNTY MONEY DID YOU HAVE TO PAY TO FINISH these projects?

Just think how low your taxes could be without all this spending!

Lets not forget the last of this paid advertisement:

Vote for Lamar Paris the Commissioner FOR ALL THE PEOPLE

**********

He forgot to put on there "FOR ALL THE PEOPLE IN HIS INNER CIRCLE."

Lamar tells us the Reece facility will be self supporting. I guess this means like the golf course, horse arena, and meeks park, which between all are subsidized by taxpayers to the tune of over $1 million every year.

I support recreation, I do NOT support taxpayer money being used for the horse arena or the golf course.

Any self thinking person knows that the Reece farm will not be self supporting. How many people do you know that intends to vist it just once. It is possible that a charity can be formed to help support it just as the old courthouse but I don't see people having enough interest in it to even go that far. It is another anchor around the necks of Union Countians placed by you know who. All this crap is not just a one time thing. It continues for years.

you are correct. there are too many instances where government spends and maintains life long financial responsibility for irresponsible projects only to get a few votes. The Reece project will attract only a few visitors each year and that will not pay for its upkeep. We see the same thing with the community center, will not pay for its upkeep.

Everything government touches require taxpayer dollars for support until that government fails or the economy totally collapses.

Our government has lost its way trying to be all things to all people in order to keep the same politicians in office.

While government is necessary, most governments are now oppressive
in too many ways. Not just our government, but governments all over the world.

Great that you all won't be there. It'll make the crowd four or five people less. I'm anxious to go as I think it is a beautiful site and a nice tribute.

Maybe, one day there will be a tribute to ACOG.
LMAO, again.

so the parking lot is gonna be full of buses filled with old people who have been coerced into getting on a bus with a promise of gambling in Cherokee and get side-tracked to the grand opening huh?

ya'll outta be ashamed of yourselves.

course yall can make it up to those old people by taking them to the community mansion on the hill and let them play blackjack, poker and other games of chance. Might even let them rent some golf carts and run amok on the course. But have no fear, those golf carts with their gps will find them even though they may run over to the hospital from the heart excitement of running over golfers.

Food for Thought!

The SPLOST 3 did not go into effect until 2009!

The County was working on the BHR project back in March 2007.(I have invoices going back to that date.)

So how did the taxpayers get duped into paying for this project on the SPLOST 3 when Lamar was already working on it in 2007?

Did you really have a chioce?

From the 2009 Partial Plan Update to the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center and the Georgia Department of Community affairs Lamar said BHR Improvements would be $200,000.

I wonder out of the over $819,000 spent out of this project has come out of the SPLOST 3.

They are taxpayer supported for a small group. Not for entire community.

Special interest. Meeks park has multiple uses for all the taxpayers.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Aquarius

There simply aren't enough hours in the day today for you to do everything that's on your list, so concentrate on the priorities. Don't feel guilty about what's been left out and start to worry about it. This isn't an easy day because you're feeling pressured and anxious, so don't expect too much from yourself. There's less energy than usual, which doesn't help.
