well it depends in what grade you start and what gradepointe is considered in your dance school but it could be anything between 6 mounths and 2 years if you give me info about your dance school can give you a better answer

well ill try anyway lol

Hi I am 20 years old and I really want to do ballet, and maybe even consider doing it as a serious career.

The thing is I took lessons when I was little so obviously I don't remember what I had learned at that time.

I should not have ever quit, but the thing was the other girls were making fun of me and to make a long story short I was dubbed as the chubby girl in class.

I want to reverse all that and show that I can do it.

Do you think it is too late?

Hi, everyone! Well, I had my first ballet class last night and what fun that was! Everyone, including my teacher, was super nice to me and very supportive. I thought I would be the oldest person there, but I was actually one of the younger ones! Yay! I had a blast and the hour just flew by. I'm signing up to be in the recital and am very excited!:)
Im also from colorado springs and have been extremly interested in ballet classes, and i was wondering if you could tell me where you signed up for your classes?

yer but dont presure your teacher into moving you up before your ready as you might not be as old as she wants you to be or mabey your still growing, which means you cant go en pointe.

but there is no harm in asking

I'm 19 and I started dancing at 14. I loved it. I almost went to university to study dance, but decided against the industry side of it (which I'm starting to regret). I agree, there's no real age where you can't start anymore. There's definitely an extremely low chance of becoming a professional in a major company unless you start a little earlier, but if that's not your goal, you can become an amazing dancer at any age.

Again, being able to do the splits, etc. is not what is required for ballet. In fact, nothing is required when you start. You'll learn everything you need as you go along. As a small anecdote, I got my front splits in three weeks. It helped that I had a very strict teacher named Diego who would push me just a little farther down each day (classes were 3 days a week). Just make sure you know what you're doing. You have to know your body, and if you have tighter muscles or hamstrings, it will take longer. Just stretch before and after each class, push yourself to go as far as you can without causing pain, and if your muscles are still sore, don't try and push through it!

I stopped dancing for most of the past year, and am kicking myself in the rear over it. After seeing Billy Elliot in London two weeks ago(I loved it so much, I crossed the channel from France this past week-end to see it again), I have already made preparations to get back into classes. I can't wait.

hey. i'm 17 this year and i have always adore dancing. i did many performance since little and i'm a cheerleader for 5 years now (not specially trained cheerleader). however, i never took real trained class and lesson for dance till this year (latin). because i come from a school which focus on performing arts, i always felt beaten down, everyone around me seem like a better dance. but after reading all your comments, i felt relieved and i'm definitely NOT giving up dancing.

Would 17-19 be an ok age to start? i'm 17 but will probably not have the chane to start til i turn 18 or 19. i did ballet when i was in 2nd grade and quit cuz i got bored. i regret doing that and kick myself for it often.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Aries

A certain person is being very feisty and fiery today. You may also suspect that they're looking for an argument and will provoke you until you rise to the bait. Trigger points include shared finances, sex and any topic that is currently supposed to be off-limits. You'll probably discover that you want to clear the air, but don't get carried away.
