Takes a lifetime of practice and usually involves musical styles, techniques etc that are of the highest level of difficulty. Problem is, all of that has nothing to do with how enjoyable it will be to listen to for the average non-professional. Artists who play technical music must be respected, but they don't necessarily have to be enjoyed. That's what I mean. Sometimes the most difficult music to play is a slow movement with exposed parts. It's the artistry of the musicians and conductor that make these movements so wonderful. The Honolulu Symphony has provided us with many such moments. You seem to be impressed with fast notes. I guess you learned all about music through cartoons, so I can't fault you. Peter Schickele once said something like, "Fast is good, loud is better. Fast and loud is best." It was a joke.

Your high maka maka, high brow, egg head, know it all attitude is why the Symphony is going broke. Go have fun with all your "impressive" music. Just don't expect the rest of the public to subsidize it.

Nope..I have read the polls. People do not want to rescue a mediocre symphony that does not have a good business plan. I commented on the revenue projections and present value of money problems earlier. Let them go. Another group might come in.
