Wow, they really messed that guy up. How sad! I hope he recovers soon!

I am glad they were caught. Sounds like it was a pretty quiet night overall though in Santa Cruz! Shocker! Although, I'm sure within the next couple of days, New Year's stabbings will start surfacing in the Senile.

So the D.I.Y newyear celebration resulted in lower arrests.

Maybe the cops should sanction it.

DIY needs to pay for services. Why does everyone else have to pay, and the sub-rosa clowns be exempt. Amgen, Bandreview, Gay-lesbian-transgendered, etc all pay.
I think people were not involved in the downtown this year because it is not safe. Less people-less problems-less revenue-less arrests

I have had the wonderful opportunity to live in different places with beauitful, peaceful fun celebrations. SC is by far, the worst, the people are sleezy, it is dirty, and dangerous. This is an example of why my family and I refuse to shop in DT sc or attend events located in SC. SC is a joke to the rest of the state.

It was a madhouse at 5:30, and there was nothing to pay for. Very little if any garbage was left behind. I saw the usual level of police on the mall for a thursday night. I think the diy aspect reminded people that they were responsible for themselves, and generally they were.

CapMom is right about Santa Cruz being made a joke statewide (actually it was US wide). When Ryan did his "Lou Dobbs free month" AND then he went on the show and looked like a tool, it put Santa Cruz on the map as being a bigger joke than Berkeley. Our Mayor really did us proud!

If you don't like it then get the f- out. Go live in the central valley for a few months and then get back to us. You don't realize what a great place SC is until you move to a shittier area.
