Glad to see the Feds are on the case. Those Poles are a real danger to this country, unlike the Mexican human and drug smuggling gangs.

They're entering the USA from Egypt, Sudan, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan..and that information comes from HOMELAND SECURITY!

We don't want a president who says he CAN'T protect our borders, nor his appointee and Secretary of Homeland Security who says the SAME THING.

NM is good with illegal aliens having drivers licenses but only if they are illegally in NM , not other states- That's going to far!

NM is 1 of only 3 states still issuing drivers licenses to ILLEGALS - WA, VT and NM. So far NM has issued over 82,000 drivers licenses to ILLEGALS. If the number is known, then too should be the names so the licenses can be invalidated, the ILLEGALS tracked down and deported.

If a special license is needed for temporary worker programs, education visas or the plethora of other exceptions then a TEMPORARY license should be issued to them for no longer than the term of the visa or whatever, and never to exceed 12 months. Such temporary license should clearly say so and NOT be identical to our NM resident licenses so that they are easily identified. And it should also require that those here temporarily be required to have in their possession paperwork showing they are here under a valid visa or program.

Perhaps a better idea is that such licenses NOT be the responsibility of the states but rather of the Feds since they are so bent on taking responsibility for (but failing to enforce) immigration laws. Maybe they should do all this and the states simply refuse to allow ILLEGALS to drive within their boundries. Those here legally under a special program would get them, ILLEGALS would NOT! Then the feds are responsible for any actions ILLEGALS cause and for the immigration rules they claim are their right to enforce.

You are a bit late. Most states already have temporary driving licences for foreign nationals on visas. They are isued for the duration of the visa, and have a clear marking that denominates their temporary status.

jusding by the number of illigal immigrants from latin countries, driving licence nor SSN are really not needed to come, work and live in US. They manage just fine.

Not late at all, NM is the one behind the times, and it is towards NM that my post was directed. It is refreshing to see that many other states care enough about ILLEGAL immigration, wherever it comes from, to address the issue.

The idea of issuing drivers license to illegal aliens is Bill Richardson and the democrats in New Mexico pure and simple. We need to fire all of them and any other elected officials who support such stupid policies.
