1) In July, 1994, appointed Joseph M. Polisar as Police Chief of Albuquerque P.D.- Polisar had been found to have been one of the principal conspirators in framing a Black man for the murder of Albuquerque Police Officer Phil Chacon. Robinson spent 29 months on death row before he was cleared.(Robinson v. Maruffi, Polisar et al, US District Court Case CIV 84-1216M, Memorandum Opinion and Order 13 January 1986) Polisar was actually PROMOTED after this incident to Lieutenant. He headed the Albuquerque P.D. Intelligence Unit. The APD Intelligence Unit was found to have been conducting campaigns of spying, harassment, intimidation, character assassination, false rumor spreading, etc. against members of the ACLU, NAACP, New Mexico Lawyers' Guild, and other organizations and community activists whose only crime was to have upset Albuquerque P.D. and were classified "enemies" as a result. A full 59.4% of the files and targets of the APD Intelligence Unit were NON-CRIMINALS.(Riggs et al v. City of Albuquerque, et al, US District Court Case CIV 88-1181SG) Within 1 month of being appointed Police Chief of APD, 21 Lieutenants, Sergeants, detectives and uniformed officers filed a discrimination case against APD and the City of Albuquerque.(LT Gilbert Najar et al v. City of Albuquerque et al, US District Court Case CIV 94-0837M).
2) Though Mayor Chavez likes to tout himself as a "Green" candidate, he cut down a 300+ year old healthy and thriving tree while a court action was pending rather than build a road around it. This was a living piece of Albuquerque history permanently destroyed.
3) Under Mayor Chavez, claims against Albuquerque P.D. have cost the taxpayers MILLIONS of dollars.
4) Under Mayor Chavez's administrations, the Albuquerque Police Department's Evidence Room
has been looted of gold coins, cash, jewelry, drugs, firearms, and even evidence being held against Police Officers with no one ever held accountable.
5) Under Mayor Chavez's administration, and under Deputy Chief (at the time) Ray Schultz, over 20 Albuquerque Police Officers conspired to steal cable services (a felony) with no one ever held accountable.
6) Under Mayor Chavez's administration, and under Chief Ray Schultz, a homeless, honorably-discharged black DISABLED VETERAN (Jerome J. Hall) was tortured by 3 Albuquerque Police Officers with repeated Taser charges. Mr. Hall was permanently disfigured by scarring and lost 1/2 of one ear as well. Though a US District Court awarded Mr. Hall $307,037. for his ordeal at the hands of those 3 Albuquerque Police Officers, he was ASSASSINATED in December 2006 before he was able to collect any of it. Albuquerque P.D. has never actively sought to solve the case and Mayor Chavez NEVER even commented on the fact the 3 officers were never disciplined by APD.
7) Mayor Marty Chavez took bribes and kickbacks in the amount of $60,000. as per the Albuquerque Ethics Board on February 28, 2003.
8) Mayor Marty Chavez has been involved in an accident whereby he rear-ended another vehicle, and has been caught speeding 2 different times. Once in Albuquerque and once in Northern New Mexico.
9) Mayor Marty Chavez's administrations have been characterized by corruption, cronyism, malfeasance, increasing taxes, and rising crime.

10) Instead of advertising the Position of Police Chief NATIONALLY as required by Federal Law after chief of APD Gil Gallegos retired, Mayor Marty Chavez instead pre-selected retired former Albuquerque P.D. Deputy Chief Ray Schultz as Police Chief. Chief Schultz was working as Chief in an Arizona police department at the time.

11) This was an oversight: the former Chief also selected by Mayor Marty Chavez, Chief Joseph M. Polisar, was also found guilty on TWO (2) SEPARATE occasions of firearms offenses during hunting trips while he was employed by Albuquerque P.D. Once as a uniformed patrol officer and the second time while Chief of Albuquerque P.D.

Higher taxes...no reduction in crime...more cops instead of workable crime prevention strategies thus more prisons and jails we can't afford...12 years???

Wow. And that's just some of the stuff we know about. Bode Aviation is suing him and the City of Albuquerque in US District Court. They say Chavez is retaliating against them by increasing their rent after they refused to do special favors for him like fly him around the country for free.

Daily Horoscope for November 25

Libra

The Moon blends well with Mercury, letting your intuition lead you to success. Go with a hunch today and see where it leads you; this is one of those times when your analytical mind will only get in the way. It may be a little harder to express yourself, but there's something to be said about using fewer words to convey your meaning.
