Asbill endorses Kidd-Johnson

This is only fair since Don Kidd was the one who gave Asbill the seat in the first place.
But this not saying much on how well she will actually do. But hay, its NM politics. business as usual.

Interestingly enough, Senator Asbill was elected, not appointed.
It's NM politics alright, here's your first lesson.
If you had taken the time to attend the Republican Women of Eddy County meetings for the last two months you'd have seen both Griggs and Kidd-Johnson in action.
Griggs is little more than a suit. He spouts off emotional topics, whips up the crowd and doesn't really say much. When asked to clarify one of his talking points related to "laws that need to be repealed", he couldn't identify one of those laws he spoke of except the Drivers license/immigrant issue. We all know this is an unpopular law. Griggs should be more careful. Rooms full of supposed sympathizers and supporters can produce some pretty pointed questions. I'll bet at the candidate forum this week in Carlsbad he'll be more careful. He'd better be. They all had better be.
Kidd-Johnson on the other hand spoke with confidence in her familiarity with the economic foundations in her District; agriculture, minerals, tourism, nuclear resources, technology and commerce. As a banker she is well suited to speak to the needs of regulators, operators and the financial sector. Her experience in banking is invaluable to us. Perhaps the best thing about Kidd-Johnson is that she is relatively young. A fresh, young voice in Santa Fe counts WAY more than the "experience" Mr. Griggs has as a low-level politician and tax-raising Mayor.
Lastly, ask yourself who is more likely to vote for a tax increase? Someone like Mr. Griggs who already has voted for one? Or someone like Ms. Kidd-Johnson that hasn't had the opportunity to vote against a tax increase yet?
I pick Dion Kidd-Johnson!!
You should too!

I was just sent a despicable mailer from the Griggs campaign.
It accuses Dion Kidd-Johnson of being a Nancy Pelosi supporter. The fact is that Ms. Kidd-Johnson did support Harry Teague in his 2008 campaign. That's the Harry Teague that is a successful OIL BUSINESSMAN in HOBBS, not Nancy Pelosi, the out-of-touch liberal Democrat. True, Harry is a moderate Democrat. Dion is a solid Republican. For my money I'd rather have someone like Kidd-Johnson in Santa Fe that works for cooperation and compromise. We'll never be a one-party legislature in NM, no matter how much our Texas Governor and her handlers want it. Mr. Griggs shows his true political naivete with this mailer. He'll never survive in Santa Fe with this approach. It is also quite insulting to voters. This mailer plays to fear-mongering and the TEA Party. Don't be swayed by fear tactics!!
NM Voters are smarter than Mr. Griggs.
