You can belong to any religious institution you choose, but that does not give anyone the right to make policy just because your particular religion has an oversion to something. Again, the Constitution does NOT give rights, it recognizes the fundamental rights that already exist. Freedom of religion {which goes beyond just worshipping in church...includes practicing that religion anywhere with some amount respect towards others} is a fundamental right that exists apart from government. In other words as a politician or a voter who may be a Christian they can vote and perform their duties in the light of those beliefs.
