Before we cast judgment, I believe we should let the taskforce proceed with the investigation. Since the mayor has been in office, there has been positive development and growth. Sometimes changes must be made in order for improvement to happen. Usually those with such a passionate response have another agenda. What's yours?

You should have been at the last counsel meeting where Counselman Montoya was hammering the Mayor and the Mayors husband kept coughing saying B____s__t under his breath. Let's see if this years Wine Festival will be as successful as she has taken this task away from the person who has successfully organized it for the last several years!

Of course Bernalillo's mayor is corrupt and misused funds. That's what you do when you are in the NM Government. When in Roman, do as the romans.

I think you mean "When in Rome", but I get the gist. This corruption runs deep in NM and we really need to consider OUTSIDE state help to get it corrected. Any ideas????

Ease up there or all the corrupt politicians will simply move to AZ and commute to work costing even more.

But we do need to vote in all new people each election till we clean the houses up.

Bernalillo Resident, I am sorry that you have those kinds of views. First off, I have no agendas, I am passionate however for a community that I have grown up in and have seen the very morals and underpinnings of our community be shaken at the hands of an incompetent mayor. Obviously you are out of touch with what is going on... who is on the "task force?" People the mayor knows and people who have no clue in how to "asses" anything. The current mayor has done NOTHING to spur development. Development and growth were inevitable regardless of whether she and he "PR firm" believe so or not. The town council should appoint their own "task force" in order to investigate the mayor's misuse and abuse of power. She should resign or be taken out of her position before she tries to run again for another term. LOL. And another thing Bernalillo Resident have fun trying to justify the actions of your mayor.

Dear Bernalillo Taxpayer,

It is not necessary for you to apologize for my views. Everyone is entitled to their own judgment and opinion. If I were you, I would do my research as I have. I have talked to the town and determined that the auditors are with the state of New Mexico. Also, the expenditures and receipts are available for the town to view. You can, also, get the facts regarding what the town has acquired and achieved over the past couple of years and when the projects originated.

Check the facts!

With a little research, you may find that Mayor Chavez has created many positive changes toward growth and economic benefit for the Town of Bernalillo. Just walk around the town and ask the citizens and the businesses. I have confidence in our mayor and town government to rectify this situation.

Sorry that you have such a personal vendetta against the mayor. I think it's the town manager that is in question.

I'm not trying to take sides or protect anyone, BUT, wouldn't you think the finance dept. at Bernaillo County would have seen this and flagged it? By not doing so, it gave the message to Mr. Jerge that his expenses were acceptable. If he would have been denied the first overpriced meal, he would have stopped. So in short, I don't think all the blame should be put on Mr. Jerge.

Mr. Carillo...... I agree with you completely (but just for clarification, its the Town of Bernalillo and not Bernalillo County). The Finance Director (Town Treasurer) should have caught the inappropriate use of tax payer money by the former Town Manager, Mr. Jerge, and Mayor Patricia Chavez. But what makes this whole mess even worse is, our Mayor just appointed the Town Treasurer (Finance Director) as the Interim Town Manager! This is the same person who looks at the credit card statement every month and pays the bill. This is the same person who while intereviewed by Larry Barker said that "in my opinion these expenses were not appropriate". Yet, he NEVER spoke up, never brought it to the Town Council while they were approving vouchers, or never questioned the Mayor as to why she was approving these expenditures! But now the Mayor appointed HIM, of all people, the Interim Town Manager. Amazing isn't it!!!!

The whole town of bernalillo sucks ,with crooked cops,im more scared of a cop than a hardcore gangster,they harras poeple,plant drugs and beat ip poeple when no one is looking,aguilar buys prostitutes,ortega does drugs!!!!

Bernalillo is crooked,ortega will beat the shit outta you ,he is crooked!!!
