Men sentenced in Albuquerque security guard's death

I'll bet the role of these two thugs was a touch bit away from minor in the eyes of Susan Schmidt!!

The punishment is too light for the brutality of the crime.

They should have gotten life. The guard was doing her job and paid the ultmate price. She should have gotten a medal or something for the family of the guard. Instead the criminals make out NM Justice.

The woman died. How could their role in it be any less than anyone else involved? Did they try to stop it? No? Then, they are just as responsible for her death! Give them ALL life in prison and let them settle their differences behind bars.

A minor role. Please, give me a break. These two men should be sentenced to life in prison. They were involved in a murder of an innocent woman doing her job. Life in prison is the only suitable punishment.

UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! Simple enough they are lucky they didn't get the needle, much less life in prision, but to walk away with pretty much nothing. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!

364 days? This is an examle of something is wrong. A year or MORE gets the person in PRISON!. Less than a year means county jail. A "Duck Shoot" from what I have heard/read compared to prison. This person ( the guard )suffered for a month +, and then died because of the actions of a few PUNKS while she was trying to make an honest living . I guess he & the other PUNKS that KILLED her should feel happy that they didn't have a little drugs on them , then they would have gotten 20+ YEARS , because we all know that some drugs are much more EVIL than taking a life.( and no, I'm not a drug user , but I think that killing is more wrong than drugs , but look at the prison system and you'll see the laws in force )

We can all blame the newly re-elected District Attorney Brandenburg. Everyone that voted for her can partially thank themselves. The DA is the one who makes the plea deal.

Kari Brandenburg, your newly re-elected district attorney. I can't believe the citizens of Albukookoo and Bernalillo County elected this clown again. She has already shown that she will take any kind of plea deal to make her conviction record look good.

Then again, she and most of the people working for her are so incompetent that they have to take plea deals. If the D.A.s office tried to take a case to court it would get thrown out due to inept prosecutors, hired for their ability to kiss a** instead of their ability to do a good job.

I feel sorry for you city folks but the voters have spoken. Now you have to live with it.

It's a sad day when someone loses their life and the guilty get a slap on the hand. The prosecutor should be fired and disbarred!!!

Something is really rotten in NM's system of justice. Disgusting perversion of judicial proceedure. I hope the national news media picks this story up and investigates the NM judiciary.

I, too, am stunned by this sentence. I wish that we were able to learn more about why the sentence was so minor. A human being died! Her family must be suffering so very much.
