Homicide suspect in custody after standoff

A double homicide suspect who was on the run for nearly eight months was in custody Saturday evening after a three-hour standoff in southeast Albuquerque.

This one went well for APD. Romero did the right thing by surrendering. Hum...didn't see him try pulling on any of APD's firearms. Glad this psycho is in custody.

Sooo.....these guys went to rob him...in his home...wilst armed with a shotgun, and he kills them both...sounds like self defense. sorry but if I opened my door and some fool was there with a shotgun what do you think I am going to do?...now granted who has him selling guns but really?

you know marty, you're full of ignorance, obviously religious, that's what you sound like. i knew robert & greg since they were little boys & believe me robert is a murderer at heart. the only reason he gave up is because he must not have been armed or believe me he would've killed a few cops too.all of his family is like that. they're all welfare thugs. they live off of welfare and live in low income apts and have all their lives. his grandmother is illiterate and always starting trouble with anyone she can. his uncle exposed robert to porn at the age of 8. so robert romero is just a bad seed.

romero is a coward. he doesn't care about right or wrong. i'm afraid brandenburg will find some way to screw it up and he will be let loose. i'm more afraid of our authorities because they have the power to protect us and they never do. they always have a loop hole to go through.

hopefully the district attorney can handle this case so this murderer can be put away for life. or maybe she'll plea bargain so she can close the case and look good in the eyes of the public. it's all about the numbers you know.

I'm so sick, about hearing all this loser's in and out of jail...while us tax payers, pay room, and board, why not take em home, and babysit them there, or maybe hand deliver them to fat bill, since he's wants,them taken care of..loser's

Would have saved us a lot of money in the long run if he tried to shoot it out with the cops.

Oh well now he gets free room and board.

What they should do is line up all those low life gang bangers and let us practice target shooting with them as the targets.

I may be a lot of things but I don't judge people based on what they put on the internet. I don't know the guy who did this crime...all I know is what the news is reporting. So if you want to call me ignorant for not knowing iside information that you do fine, but from the way the article was written it sounds like he shot those guys in self-defense.

Can someone fill in the real facts here?? On the surface it sounds like self defense but clearly the DA is charging him with murder...leaving me to believe there is a ton more to the story. Maybe he brought them in and tortured them first? Or didn't shoot them right away? If so that would easily justify a murder charge.

I agree. There is more to the story that is not being reported.
There are rules to the game of street life. The others guys were obviously not playing fairly and probably got what was coming to them anyways.

Well, at least he got to pass on his genetics before being caught. On the run for 8 months and has a pregnant girlfriend..the strategy worked and it's a job well done.
