I support the penalty, but 1) WHY EVEN HAVE THE FREAKING THING IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO USE IT?! 2) IT COSTS A LOT OF MONEY TO SENTENCE SOMEONE TO DEATH AND THEN PROCESS ALL THEIR APPEALS, ETC. IT IS CHEAPER TO GIVE THE B-A-S-T-A-R-D-S LIFE AT HARD LABOR WITH NO PAROLE.

I'd like to see a system under which the inmates pay for their own incarceration - both upkeep and construction of prisons. Why should the rest of us pay for their mistakes?

Have you sat alone undisturbed and pictured the little girl being beaten, raped. Her fear, her pain! Do this now please. Where is the justice for our babies? For us? Please don't stop the death penalty. If it is beyond a shadow of doubt sir then put them to death. Stop the numerous appeals process instead. Prisoners get better health care, meals etc than most of the tax payers. Their lives in prison are not that hard. Evil Lives Where Good Men Don't Stop It! I beg you please enforce the death penalty when it is beyond the shadow of doubt like Terry Clark. He should have been put to death years before it finally happened. The second girl who lived through that nightmare now has peace. And because of our judicial system he got a second victim! Sir I ask you please fight the evil that our judicial system allows to continue. These monsters live at our expense in comfort. I personally do not want to pay for incarcerated criminals to live a lifestyle I can't even afford while they are locked up. Jails need to be a place a criminal does not want to go. The way they are now people are not afraid to commit crimes. They need to fear the judicial system. Demons like Terry Clark are to be put to death! All through the Bible men fought evil and our Father God blessed them. David and Goliath! Be our David sir please. Enforce real punishment for criminals not television, not whatever they want to make them more comfortable but discomfort and hard times. Make them truly pay for the crime they have commited! Take their comforts away! Enforce the law and make it something that people fear!

I say life with out a chance of parole, only if they find a way to make those pay with some type of labor, pay for the grief of their victims and for the prison in which they housed in. The death penalty does not prevent those from committing crime. Let them eat s--t and live.

The ACLU advocates abolishing the death penalty. Fine. Let their organiization, not state taxpayers, foot the entire cost for ALL incarceration expenses. Actually, the real concern should be how to expedite implementation of the sentence by reducing the number of frivilous appeals which only serve to enrich lawyers and prolong the agony of victims families.

We need to keep the Death Penalty. If you don't want to be Executed don't comment a bad crime. That simple.

We have got to stop bailing out society's criminals, from white collar crime to intimidating a witness. I do not think that the Governor should repeal the Bill. He should keep the death penalty open - for now, until we, as citizens of this great country can decide as to how we proceed with the prison system. Inmates MUST be charged for their room and board. They are not losing freedom, they are freeloading. Incarceration with all amenities is not punishing the offenders. Once society decides on how these inmates pay their debt to us, then we could go back and reconsider repealing the death penalty. Right now it would be a deterrent and those currently on death row should serve their sentence - death. There are many celebrities who would disagree, but they go home to their gated communities, their high security systems, and bodyguards. They are able to protect themselves from what you and I live with on a daily basis. Raping an innocent child is the ultimate act of violence and hatred, and we as a society MUST respond. God forgive me for thinking this way, but there were priests in my faith that abused young men, and forgiving them for their sins did not stop the abuse. This is a difficult subject to deal with and I was adamant at first about relaying my opinion in a public forum, but not do discuss it would have made me feel like a coward. My hands are clean and my spirit is strong. Let us hope that the leaders we have chosen do so with the purpose of protecting its people to the fullest extent possible.

I thought we had on the books if you kiil a cop you are put to death--found guilty-no question about it. The cost of housing and feeding killers is very expensive but the real issue is they should pay with their life for the one they took. I hope the Gov does the right thing and make these people pay dearly.

The death penalty should not be repealed, it should be enforced. There are criminals that are far beyond rehabilitation and will never be a contributing member to society. Their crimes are horrible and they show no remorse. They do not deserve to live or be supported by the taxpayers they harm. Let them die. That's what we do to an a dog that cannot be rehabilitated; they are put to sleep.

Yes! Repeal it! It's a waste of money and gives victim's families nothing except to interfere with their healing and shift attention away from the victims.

I have no sympathy for individuals who commit violent crimes. If someone is a habitual criminal and is found guilty without any reasonable doubt by 12 of his peers, of a crime in which the death penaly is warranted, then I think it should be imposed. The problem is our society is to conflicted. We think that our form of death penalty is bararack and would rather pay through our taxes to care for these men and women for 30,40 or 50 years. The appeal system is far to cumbersume and does nothing but feed the pockets of legal defense system, while the families of the victims continue to grieve without full closure. Gov. Richardson, please do not sign this bill.

I don't think the death penalty should be repealed because I don't want to see tax payers money go on keeping murders alive if they kill a police officer or anyone. Don't geat me wrong I'm not out to say an eye for an eye but I do say if you murder some one you shuold pay for your crime.

Great timing! We've uncovered the largest serial killings in state history and now they want to repeal the death penalty? The person(s) who killed those people and buried them on the West Mesa sure took it into their own hands to be the judge, jury, and executioner for 12 people, but when we catch them we can't ask for anything but keeping them alive, well, and fed for the remainder of their life? No justice can be found where there is not equal punishments for crime.

An eye for an eye, life for life. Why should those condemned to death be allowed years and years of FREE appeal on the tax payer and enjoy 3 solid meals a day. If there is 100% proof he or she is guilty just chop off their head and be done with it. The only other alternative I would even remotely consider is life in prison, LIFE being key word, never to be released at HARD LABOR. Move a rock pile from point A to point B, day in and day out 7 days a week for say 12 hours a day. 10 minute break to pee and swallow some water. One hot meal in the evening, breakfast and lunch are cold meals. NO TV, books, visitors or any other privilege, that means NO MEDICAL or DENTAL either. Those in prison have it better then a lot of working people out of prison.

It is never ok to take a life, no matter who it is. The U.S.A. is one of the very few nations in the world that still uses the ancient method of capital punishment. Will we never be all that we can be? Must we always be mired in our dark caves of ignorance?

It is never ever right to take another life, no matter who it is. We stand to lose so much if we can't get that through our thick skulls. BE more than an angry mob. Enlightened families are forgiving these offenders. If they can, then who the hell are we?
