The irony of calling someone a bigot because they think mormons are either weird or horrible...is ironic because their religion is by definition bigotrous. Their religion teaches you will have black slaves in heaven.....

when i find those lost gold tabets,or see the rabbit joe smih talked to then maybe. If you are a christian the book of mormon is heresy and pure blasphemy.so backing romney shows your bigotry, religion mattered when the candidate was black, but not when he's white.this actually works to obamas' advantage because the question of religion can't be brought up,without mentioning romneys not a christian and believes god lives on a star named kolob.

Downright dispicable and pathetic. What church do you attend? My guess is Westboro Baptist. If this is what your church teaches you then they are just as bad as Westboro. Teddy R you can add liar and evil to your list as well.

Name one mistruth I have spoken about the mormons.I have only quoted from their book and historically proven incidences.I just said they aren't christians,I didn't say their fairy tale was any less unbelieveable then the christian fairy tale is.All I said Obamas' christianity was a big deal in 2008,and now in 2012 we have an avowed white non christian running and no one on the right is upset. This speaks of bigotry and hypocrisy,or in other words a twofer.I did not call into question their ethics, moral values or patriotism, like your side did with Obama.I just said they aint Christians, and any respected theologian will agree with me.

"the One"
And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land
Called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and their
Will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that
Person known as "The One."
He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He Hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to save you." My lack
Of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my
Association with evil doers are of no consequence. I shall save you
With hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the
Land that he who proceeded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation,
And that all he has built must be destroyed. And the people rejoiced,
For even though they knew not what "The One" would do, he had promised. That it was good; and they believed. And "The One" said "We live in The greatest country in the world. Help me change everything about it!"
And the people said, "Hallelujah! Change is good!"
Then He said, "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats." And the
People said "Sock it to them!" "And redistribute their wealth." And
The people said, "Show us the money!" And the he said, "
Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody.."
And Joe the plumber asked, " Are you kidding me? You are going to
Steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??" And "The One"
Ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized.
One lone reporter asked, "Is that not Marxist policy?" And she was
Banished from the kingdom.
Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and
Having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with
Radical terrorists?" And "The One" said, "Simple. I shall sit with
Them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!" And the people
Said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons
Into free cars for the people!"
Then "The One" said "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes." And one,
Lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes." So "The One"
Said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!"
And the people said, "Hallelujah! Show us the money!"
Then "The One" said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell
Your homes!" And the people yawned and the slumping housing market
Collapsed. And He said. "I shall mandate employer-funded health care
For every worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every
Person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the
Clinics." And the people said, "Give me some of that!"
Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas."
And the people said, "Where is my rebate check?"
Then "The One" said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and
Electricity rates will skyrocket!" And the people said, "Coal is
Dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we do not care for that part
About higher electric rates." So "The One" said, Not to worry. If
Your rebate is not enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out.
Just sign up with the ACORN and you troubles are over!"
Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let us
Grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches,
Free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..." And
The people said, "Hallelujah!" and they made him king!
And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and
Ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others
Simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto
A rock dropped from a cliff.
and too
late, and their homeland was no more.

In a posting on Monday on his influential blog, the theologian, R. Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., spelled out why traditional Christians do not consider the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be simply a different denomination of Christianity.

“Mormonism rejects the Bible as the sole and sufficient authority for the faith, and insists that the Book of Mormon and other authoritative Latter-Day Saints writings constitute God’s final revelation,” he wrote.“By its very nature, Mormonism borrows Christian themes, personalities, and narratives. Nevertheless, it rejects what orthodox Christianity affirms and it affirms what orthodox Christianity rejects.”

Dr. Mohler conspicuously did not use the term “cult” and he said,“It is neither slander nor condescension to state clearly that Mormonism is not Christianity.”

While individual Mormons may be persons of good conscience, Mormonism itself is a belief system that would reduce the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit from being the three Persons of the one, true, and infinite God to being three limited, finite deities among an uncounted multitude of deities, all of whom merely reshaped small parts of a preexisting cosmos.

Mormonism teaches that human beings may, by practicing the tenets of its faith, become gods and goddesses themselves, with their own planets full of people worshiping them.

While the Catholic Church would reject nothing that is true or good in Mormonism or any other world religion, Catholic theology would have to note that there is a tremendous amount in Mormonism that is neither true nor good. Further, because Mormonism presents itself as a form of Christianity yet is incompatible with the historic Christian faith, sound pastoral practice would need to warn the Christian faithful: Mormon theology is blasphemous, polytheistic, and cannot be considered on par with the theology of other Christian groups.

The Catholic Church views Mormons as pagans, since Mormon theology teaches that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three separate entities, albeit, they are all progressing to the same ultimate stage. This fundamental difference in their theology, having three gods, is paganism. The claims of Joseph Smith are not given credence by the Catholic Church, nor is the Book of Mormon received as Divine Revelation. The fact that the Mormons dare place it alongside the Bible is viewed as blasphemy. For the Mormon Church to be true, it must be assumed that God's Church on earth, instituted by Jesus Christ, somehow failed and that revelation was not completed with the death of the last apostle but instead was withheld until God saw it fit to reveal it to Joseph Smith centuries upon centuries after Christ had died to inaugurate the New Testament. The Church finds this idea repugnant, for the idea assumes Christ died in vain if His saving grace somehow became lost to the world at any point in history. Mormon ordinances (their version of the sacraments) are not received as valid by the Church, nor does the Church respect the Mormons' authority to preach on Christ or His salvation.

The Bible teaches to be an example, to let your light shine, to pay tithing, to go into the world and teach and baptise, to love your enemy and to serve others and to give to the poor and to be perfect and says by their fruits you will know his true people. Isn't it ironic that the Mormons seem to be doing a much better job than most of the other so called "legitimate or real Christians". Sounds to me like that gentleman needs to remove the beam from his own organizations eye before he points the finger at others. Critics of the Mormons reminds me of what Abe Lincoln said whe he kept hearing so much bad about Grant including accusations he was a drunk. Lincoln said well maybe we need to find out what Grant's drinking and give some of that to my other Generals as well.

phul of it phil:Where was his attitude in 2008.When the right was all in a tizzy over rumors that Obama might be a secret muslim. Are you saying muslims are not good people, who don't love their god.And what about the swearing in ceremony if god forbids he wins. Will he place his hand on the holy bible to take the oath of office,or will he refuse to do it and place his hand on the book of mormon. Thus becoming the first president to deny Christianity is the main religion in america. After all the right is always saying our founding fathers were god fearing christians? You are a fool who has a bad case of situational morality.

Roberts listed three elements “that everyone must be clearly aware of when it comes to Mormonism. These elements make it an aberrant expression of the Christian faith.”

Those three elements are helpful in examining the differences between Mormon beliefs and biblical truths.

First, Roberts said,“Mormonism radically redefines and doctrinally reconstructs the Christian faith.”

“There is no major doctrine of the faith, whether it be God, Jesus, salvation or inspiration of the Scriptures that Mormonism has not severely and completely altered and changed from its original intent…”

Second, Roberts claimed Mormonism “radically redefines the Christian worldview.” And, as McKeever told the CP, they like to use “Christian” terms.

“We are talking in a different language. They (Mormons) have become masters at using our language,” McKeever said.

Thirdly, Roberts said,“Mormonism is disingenuous in its approach to proselytization.”

“While claiming to be true to the Christian faith, Mormonism has seriously redesigned and recreated it,” he wrote.“The whole basis of the church is built on the [passage in] Joseph Smith’s religious autobiography. Joseph Smith claimed that God and Jesus commanded him not to join any church because ‘they were all wrong … their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors [members] were all corrupt.’”

Therefore, Roberts asserted,“Mormonism, in fact, has set itself apart from mainstream Christianity.”

Alan Gomes, professor at Talbot School of Theology, agreed. "Mormons, however, do qualify as cults of Christianity because they claim to be Christian – indeed, to be the only true Christian group on earth."

Other key issues where the Bible and Mormonism significantly diverge are their basis of salvation by works, not faith, and the continuing revelation of Scripture and the belief that God was once a man, said Kurt Goedelman, founder of Personal Freedom Outreach, a Christian education organization.

The bottom line lies in Mohler’s concluding post in a 2007 Beliefnet blog debate titled,“Mormonism Is Not Christianity.”

“Mormonism is not just another form of Christianity – it is incompatible with ‘traditional Christian orthodoxy,’” Mohler wrote.

Roberts would agree, writing that “Mormonism is clearly, absolutely, completely, and thoroughly a ‘religious cult.’”

Dr. Richard Land, The Christian Post's executive editor and president of The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, explained in a CNN interview in October that,“When we use the word ‘cult,’ that’s a theological definition of a movement that claims to be within the confines of the Christian faith and clearly is not within the confines of the Christian faith. It is a new religion.”

Land acknowledged that Mormons are “middle-class, moral, respectable people. They are anything but a cult in a cultural and social sense.” But although he does not prefer the word “cult” to describe the LDS Church, it is “theologically accurate” to use that word, he said.

The evangelical leader, however, prefers to describe Mormons, as found in his Oct. 18 editorial in The Christian Post, as “the Fourth Abrahamic religion – the first three being Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In this formulation Mormonism would be analogous to Islam with Joseph Smith analogous to the prophet Mohammad and the Book of Mormon and analogous to the Koran.”

“Mormonism is a new religion and not a particular branch of the Christian faith,” Land concluded, highlighting that a 2011 LifeWay Research study found that a significant majority of Protestant pastors do not accept Mormonism as Christian.

are we really defending mormonism here? What about post death baptisms that they perform? The Mormon church got in deep shit a while ago for having a list of jews that were imperfect because they were jews so they would baptise them after death in order for them to go to the proper heaven. They would baptise what dead they can, and if they can't get the dead bodies they would make a surraget to pose as the dead jew as they baptise their soul, without the dead persons consent?

So shitty founded religion (which isn't saying much) doing shitty things. Their number 1 target is elie wiesel who found out and hes pissed

Quite right - but I only run the Superfecta betting window.

The "Sex-Fecta" window is two booths down - also labelled "Trolls Served Here." Nobody works that window, of course, as Trolls like our pet Northwoods Ponytailed Hippie are best ignored completely. Eventually they go back to polishing off a couple bottles of T-Bird before lunch and acting out their incoherent arguments with imaginary right-wing demons on their bench in Veteran's Memorial Park on Andrews Street.

Actually i'm not a hater. I believe all jeudeo/christian religions are bad. Christianity is a religion of fear and it shows heavily in our government. Thats why if you look at statistics, the number one readers of the bible are atheists (no i'm not an atheist, i'm a universalist) followed by evangalists, and at the very bottom of the list is southern baptists followed by catholics.

However with mormonism....the religion itself is just.....what? A man says he found golden plates that no one can see, transcribes it out of a top hat with magic stones, can't say it correctly more than one time, teaches jesus died in rome, but made a pittstop to america before he left earth to leave these plates that teach nothing that coorelates with his journey in rochester ny. The teachings of the plates are very specific to things going on at the time of joseph smith finding the plates?

yea overall....you cant really look at that religion and take it totally seriously ....

Opening up a new thread are we, Cali-Phonia? You seem deeply concerned about religious persecutions of jews now all of a sudden, for some reason.

Since you're brought up the topic, perhaps you and our pet Northwoods Ponytailed Troll would care to share your deeply-held views on the blood libel perpetrated by his fellow Northwoods folk in Massena:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massena_blood_li...

Or, alternatively, you could spare us all any further of your detestable and off-topic bigoted rants on religion ...

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Taurus

Try hard not to let money or possessions come between you and a friend today, unless it's over something that has got to be sorted out before it goes any further. For instance, if someone owes you money and has consistently failed to pay it back, this is a good day for mentioning it to them and finding out what's going on. If necessary, you may have to be quite vehement.
