The rate of divorces and fatherless children nowadays is another result of this line of thinking. Marriage is supposed to be a life long commitment, not a thing you get tired of, then pay the lawyer. If you are a father and get a divorce, and want your children, good luck with that without the consent of the mother. Children nowadays get away with anything. No more strict parenting, you are supposed to coddle your children, speak in a soft caring voice, no matter what they have done. If dad yells,(or spanks) he is seen as an overbearing jerk.

Parenting and child rearing have changed and evolved to suit today's life style.
People are not interested in having children any more. Women want careers and money. They are more intelligent than their mothers and refuse to be a slop maid for an adult man.
Contraception has sexually placed them on an even par with males. Parenting is going down a similar path to pet ownership.
