Movie review: 'Michael Jackson's This Is It'

Full story: www.sfgate.com

There's a simple disclaimer at the beginning of "Michael Jackson's This Is It." It reads, "For the fans." It shouldn't be ignored. Those who stuck with the troubled pop icon after his universe shifted from the charts to the tabloids probably will find equal measures of inspiration and heartbreak in the documentary. For everyone else, it's a strange offering. Pieced together using a reported 120 hours of rehearsal footage shot at Los Angeles' Staples Center just before Jackson's death on June 25, it's a concert film without an audience. There's no discernible beginning or end. It's padded with mind-numbing scenes of dancers learning their moves. And the star, whose name appears in the title, seems completely unaware that he's on camera.

What?

BTW, did you read the review that you posted a comment to? Do you understand what it says? Perhaps you need a translator.

You think theaters 3/4 full are the best opening ever? You don't get out often, do you? Do they have to take down a wall when you want to go out of the house, Moronson?

Maybe you should leave your computer for a while and watch the news.´This is it´ is officialy the best opener of all time. No hard feelings, but haven´t you been out of reality for too long now?

Why not read this review. I especially like this:

´Not that it ever gets beneath the surface – but that surface was so multi-faceted and exciting, at least in this context, that it makes this film impossible to ignore. You can’t watch it and not be mesmerized by his performance´.

Oh, Darkie, what a zero you are compared to M.J. It should be prohibited for someone like you to even mention an icon like him.

Two replies to one post. I win, Moronson. <<SMIRK>>

This was my fav part of the review: "There's no discernible beginning or end. It's padded with mind-numbing scenes of dancers learning their moves."

Wow. That MUST be fun to watch... over and over and over and over.*yawn*

Like the review said (and none of you f'loons understand): "There's a simple disclaimer at the beginning of "Michael Jackson's This Is It." It reads, "For the fans." It shouldn't be ignored."

In 15 words or less, f'loonie, what does that mean to YOU?

Is this what you f'loons are crowing about?

"Distributor Sony said the $7.4 million domestic haul is the best ever for a movie on a Wednesday in October."

Are there enough qualifiers in there? I'm surprised they didn't add, "on the left side of the country, in places where it was raining and there were no other theatres open."

NOT exactly a bragging point, f'loonshits. When they have to put in qualifiers to make their point, it means THEY ARE DESPERATE to put a good spin on it.

F'loons are unbelievably dense.

I wonder if the f'loons understand why it was a "limited release" if it was supposed to be such a great money-maker? I don't suppose they've bothered to run that one through those seive-like brainpans on top of their necks. What would be the use?

Nope, f'loon. It wasn't even the best opening of a music documentary. "The No. 1 music documentary is "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," which had a $31.1 million opening weekend last year and took in $65.3 million over its entire theatrical run."

I know what it means to the reviewer they sent out from here: it was boring, trite and a shameless attempt at a posthumous Oscar. He said he had a pounding headache within 20 minutes and almost had to resort to plucking out his own eyelashes to stay awake.

Needless to say, he isn't/wasn't/won't ever be a fan but he drew the short straw in the movie ticket pool.

You obviously don't watch the news lol They said tonight in the past 2 days it's made $22million and that was in the middle of the week when it opened.

Michael Jackson's This Is It" took in $2.2 million domestically from its first late-night screenings. Not "22" Million.

In all fairness, Myley IS alive and CAN control the output of a product. Michael had no control of this product. It was put together to make money. I will go see it. I don't expect it to have a begining middle or end. It is simple a snapshot of a rehearsal and a last glimps of Michael at work. That's all. The fans will appreciate it. Those that are not fans may or may not. I've heard nothing but good things about it. It's all good because life goes on.

I wonder if Smiley f'loon bothered to read this paragraph of the review? And I wonder if it looked like Greek to her since she can't understand what a decimal point or "domestic haul" means?

"Even if he had the body for it, which he obviously did, how did he muster the mental strength? When you have a doctor on duty around the clock to administer the prescription medications you desire, when your idea of a good sleep is reportedly to be unconscious for 24 hours, how do you wake up into such a state of keen alertness? Uppers? I don't think it quite works that way. I was watching like a hawk for any hint of the effects of drug abuse, but couldn't see any. Perhaps it's significant that of all the people in the rehearsal space, he is the only one whose arms are covered at all times by long sleeves."

Okay, f'loonies, in 25 words or less, what is that reviewer implying?
