Bald Black Woman Epidemic..Heeelp!

Ok maybe this is just here in the ghettoes of Cali, but maybe it exsists in other places too. It seems that there is an increasign amount of black women who are bald around the edges of the hairline. I see this A LOT. I guess the braids rip out all the baby hair, but then it keeps going and going. Why, do so many sisters think it cute to just brush a few strands of hair accross 2 inches of bald around the edges and then have the nerve to hang a fake ponytail off of that nub under there? These chiks forheads be starting ON TOP of thier heads!

How can they not be embarrassed? They brush and brush and brush with Pro-Style till theres no more hair on the temples, how far will they go before they realize that all they have left is a clip on pony tail attached to a nub of hair in the middle of thier head! And some even have the nerve to put those little babyhair patterns on the side in little sqiggles or lines...

Please if you have seen this phenomenon or have an answer please post.

WHY NOT WEAR A NICE WIG?

This seems to be a new fad going on. Your post made me laugh though lol. Braids CAN be bad for your hair health because it does rip some of it off especially those who hair it all too often. Now braiding your OWN hair isn't so bad though, but wearing the extensions and weaves....wow! There's nothing wrong with wearing that, but take care of your hair FIRST and look cute SECOND. I don't think this "fad" is just in CA, I believe it to be nationwide thing because you can find a baldhead scallawag in just about ANY state you go to.

LOL! Oh, I have seen it... I've tried to help. Nothing can mend it because the black women who suffer from alopecia refuse to take measures to prevent the further destruction of their hair.
I have a friend who insists on covering up her balding spot with glued in weaves. I warned her about it, but she says she "needs" to wear a weave to avoid embarrasment. I say, get braids. She won't do that because the bald spot is too big to be covered.
Too much hair glue, excessive relaxing, heavy fake hair..... its a shame what vanity does to our people.

I've seen it in Miami too. I have seen Black women with severe breakage around their hairlines. Weaves and braids if they are not maintained properly can damage your hair. Brading your hair too tight and perming your hair too often will also cause this problem. It looks horrible. I haven't permed my hair in two years. My hair is white and very straight. I wear it cut short and keep it conditioned. Maybe these women should buy a good wig and wear it until their hair grows back in. It is way too hot and humid for me to war a wig in Miami. I would sweat like a pig! LOL!

LSFH!!! OMG I cant believe that! That is hillarius! That comes from improper treatment of chemically challenged hair, be it permed or bleached. I see it here in DC alot too. Its weird looking. They need Rogaine.

Some may also have medical problems. But too many do not bother to see a dermatologist to make sure it is not some medical isue!

Damn so far we had : Brooklyn, Denver, DC, Shy-Town...OMG this is a crisis. A NATIONAL crisis!

I guess I just have too much pride and vanity to ever look like that. I alwasy wonder if I am weak because I can't walk around with bald spots, covered up with glue, colored in with a pencil, and a clip-on ponytail whose texture is too silky for the head it is on.

I think it would be so much better to just get it cut nice and short like Fantasia or soemthing, if you are going bald on the sides please get a wig or just cut all the damn shhit off!

Things that pull at the hair's roots or chemically compromise the scalp and roots are the cause...

... my hair isn't damaged or thinning, but I cut mine short and use oils that I infused with herbs to keepmy naturally hair nice. Mean while I wear wigs and put on any style I like.

Yet the 'Black' community seems to 'encourage' young males to grow their hair as long as possible. I don't see the enticement. Long haired boys...bald headed girls...sexist comment I know. But I can't stand it!...perhaps these women 'forget' blacks don't need anything to draw negative attention to themselves...the struggle is hard enough!

LMAO!!!!!! I've had to do this once. One day--a spur of the moment thing--I decided I wanted to get my hair cut in this sort of bob style. Well I thought it would like right on me and it didn't. So I bought a phony ponie from the hair shop. And I wore it twice. Because I just couldn't fine a pony that matched my hair color, it was too dark and it was obvious. But anyways, one day when I was over my boyfriends house I took a shower and decided to wash my hair. WEll I forgot that I didn't bring my flat iron and my blow dryer. SO when my hair dried it was so nappy. I wore their hairpeice--and it looked BAD. LMAO.
