You knew it was coming. Since Barack Obama has voiced his support for gay marriage the NAACP followed suit. They state that it is a legal issue, not a religious one. They would be right. But the anger of the Black church against Barack Obama and the NAACP is about the fact that for so many years, the church and state were intertwined in the Black community. The Black church led Blacks into a new era through the sacrifices made by pastors during the civil rights era as they suffered under the violent hand of racism, were imprisoned, and in the case of Dr. Martin Luther King, were killed.
