They already do learn foreign languages in school, but most still can't speak it.

It makes sense to be billingual if not more than that in this damn day and age. WHole point of parenting is to raise your kids to acomplish more than you were able to in growing up, more opportunities. COme on people

You are right...they learn the basics, and after school they just drop it. I know you speak many languages, but I only know English and Spanish. Maybe I need to learn another.

It sad that so many Americans are opposed to children learning a second language.

It is well known that a second language has many benefits in other areas of learning and that being unilingual is a handicap in the modern world.

Spanish is certainly the obvious choice for Americans since a majority of people in the western hemisphere communicate in this language.

Why are so many Americans so xenophobic and isolationist that they would go out of their way to deprive themselves of the gift of a second language and by so doing deprive their children of a richer cultural experience?

So let me get this right. The ILLEGAL ALIENS do not need to learn to speak English but AMERICANS need to learn to speak Spanish? Please tell me people will not vote this man into the Presidency.

Why don't we just start calling ourselves Mexiamericans because that is where Barack will take us.

Although, I guess you can't listen to an American hating racist pastor for 20 years and not believe those things for your self. So why should I be surprised that Barack will so casually toss aside our national language in support of the Mexicans vote.

Learn a second language if you want to, not because we are being taken over by Illegal Aliens. Rest assured, next he will be telling us to learn to speak Arabic so we can have the nice "talks" with the terrorists when they come to bomb us again.
