I love black men. I'm a black woman myself and I've noticed that a lot of black men I run into have really low self-esteem. They just dont think highly of themselves.

Why is this?

I disagree,ive came across FAR more black women who have self esteem issues,than i have men,especially when it comes to races of other women with black men.You can see the insecurity seep out of their pores

Self-hatred for being black since they have no concept of their complete and corrected history and too many blacks picking on them in school growing up for being to dark, talking too white, and not acting "black" enough are two good ones.

I dont think your black, I think your someone white trying to start some shit. And if a thread should be made about men with Low self esteem then it should be for white men since they have the lowest of the low. Black men in general even the most down black man still holds himself and his self esteem in check, hell your likely to find a black bum on the streets with better self esteem than the Charlie the white man at the office.

Well I dont care about women of other races personally. My best friend is white and she's like a sister to me.

I haven't really hung around many black women outside of family members because I find them too critical and catty. Some of the worse fights I've been in involved black women talking mess behind my back.

Like I said I love black men and I've hung around a lot and they always seem to think low of themselves and they cover it up by smoking a lot of weed or drinking their sorrows away. I'm wondering why that is.

Oh I agree with you. White men have the lowest self-esteem of all men. They're more likely to committ suicide or be on anti-depressants. Just listen to their music (hard metal) its all about self-harming and bull-ish like that. Their race is lost because they can't appreciate life unless they're in power. With a black man as president I'll bet white male suicides will increase, but thats another topic.

I know black men are naturally strong, but a lot do have obvious self-esteem issues and they turn to substance abuse to get away from their problems.

Oh and why do you ASSume I'm white? Because I'm asking a question about black men? That's silly. I'm a black woman.

Are you kidding me most of them are concieted and think there gods gift to women no matter how many times they get rejected,but you could be right maybe its all a front.

LOL! Yea I've noticed that many black men just think they are too good. With most I think they're covering up insecurities. Maybe their mothers never appreciated them enough.

Black men don't think highly of themselves? Some don't and why because they are too busy pointing fingers at other people including black women instead of trying to raise their self-esteem. Just go to youtube and look at sargewp, lol. As for arrogance, it is unattractive. Regardless to whether he looks like Boris Kodjoe or if he looks like lil wayne. The arrogance is not attractive. Sistas be doing it too and it's just unattractive. Be humble.

But what black women really need to realize is if these black men don't even think highly of themselves, they will certainly not think highly of you. Many black men seem to hate or feel that black women who love them are fools to be dogged and taken advantage. Word to wise sisters should stay away from black men with low self-esteem because you can't fix them and the only thing they can or want to do is drag you down to their level.

-I talk to my dad everyday
-I don't do Drugs(inless u wanna count Mary J every now and then)
-I graduate from college in May
-As far as opportunities in life...I will have an college degree in a couple of months and im a pretty good basketball player...so i would say I have a few opportunities.
-I don't think u can meet many guys of any race as confident as I am.

Black men in America suffer higher unemployment than other men.
Black men don't get respect in school and have to attend inferior schools.
Black men are harassed by police for just looking a certain way and driving.
Black men are not given any respect in the Media.

Black men are treated like we are guilty of something until we prove to others that we are not like the image that America has labled us with.
