Yes of course it was... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Brazi... But I feel like Blacks in the USA are always complaining about Slavery. And it gets tiresome. Slavery in Brazil was much worse and Blacks there seem to have move on and are part of one of the fresh new economies that one day will surpass the USA. I am Brazilian born in the USA and I am mix both Black/White. But I am proud of both heritages and I have been to Brazil and Blacks there are always happy and love to hang out with different races and they don't talk about slavery or bad about other races like Blacks in the USA do. Yeah there still discrimination and disadvantages but Blacks there aspire to be successful and happy. Yeah Blacks live in a lot of poverty in Brazil - just like many Blacks in other countries (even in Africa) but they are proud and happy people and not Ghetto like Blacks in the USA. I feel like Blacks in Brazil think different than Blacks in the USA. Also believe me that Whites in the USA are much better to deal with than Whites in Brazil. I think some of you Blacks need to spend a year with other Blacks in other countries to understand what I mean.

So whites in Brazil are bad to deal with and theres tons f discrimination but blacks are always hanging out with them and grinning and bearing it (probably out of fear). And you think american blacks should do the same? Are you stupid

Yes. In Brazil, just like in Haiti and other places, the whites had to keep continuosly buying slaves for their labor camps due to the high mortality index among the slaves. However, it was different in AmeriKKKa. The black enslaved population featured a notorious growth during this period.

Which house more Latino and blacks while whites commit the most crimes. You are wrong. Slavery was so bad in Brazil that the people overthrew the emperor there when he tried to abolish it. While there was a civil war here, Lincoln was not deposed from office.

The situation in Latin American countries is quite different. The races may have intermarried sooner than they did the United States , includin including Brazil, the whites hold all the power positions. had the Klu Klu had the Klu Klux Klan black sand black sand people of color today as can be seen by as can be seen by the President.

Unfortunately, how many people in Latin America confuse intermarriage with racial freedom or equality. A lot of the people still hole to white supremacy when you ask them w when you ask them what color they are for to describe erase many will tend to add something to denote whiteness.

But Blacks in Brazil and other South American countries know exactly where they are from. We Americans guess. They were allowed to keep their customs and traditions.

We Americans guess. They'll tell you they come from Africa and practice some African religion, very specific. Your ancestors don't descend from the slaves brought to the U.S., there is no "we"; You meant your Caribbean fellows guess.

No. They know they are from Ghana or the Ivory Coast and what tribes they hail from. We don't.

AAA You need to brush up on your knowledge of slavery, I have enclosed a link to some good information. http://innercity.org/holt/slavechron.html I've also put a link to examine some of the voyages from Africa to Central and South America to the Caribbean and finally North America. You continue to have this attitude of "us" versus "them" mentality, and I want to show that as African people, we all suffered, and continue to suffer. The struggles faced in Bahia, Brazil, were very similar to the brutality suffered in Jamestown Virginia. Finally the last link provides some information about slavery in Brazil Enjoy http://histclo.com/act/work/slave/am/sa-bra.h...

We still have historical documents intact. ;-D W/ photos of our ancestors in their original outfits, hair styles, tribal tattoos, etc. ;-) & we preserved a lot of our original religions, food, dances, even some dialects. ;-) Exactly, you even have Capoeira. Which is Kung-fu and a secret language all together. Blacks in America were basically stripped of everything and families were broken up. That's why some just call themselves African American. Because they have clue where exactly they come from.
