But many of the posters of this forum are very young and in college...it takes extra time to grow a garden.

I grow veggies and some fruit organically and of course, flowers and plants.

A bit related but not totally, I am hugely into ikebana and other floral arranging...

But it all has to be done within the time contraints of work, family life, and volunteer work.

Herb garden. But I like the organic veggies. I want to plant a lemon tree and an apple tree. I have a large back yard, but I may need to relocate to more of a farming area.

I'd like that very much. I can just see the veggies and fruit!!!

My bf loves gardening.

My grandmother is always in her garden.

I wonder why anybody would entertain this thread. You all going to end up planting this guy's topix gardens and being his slaves. WATCH YOURSELF! Ha!

Yes some are of course. I know my stepdad was addicted to gardening it seems and my grandad was forever in the yard cutting grass, plumming, trimming planting, etc etc. You just have to remember that common sense should tell you there will always be blacks interested in anything the average white Joe homeowner is into and that just because there exist many poor blacks or blacks that grew up with parents who didnt make it priority doesnt mean that NO blacks would take care of their property. I know what you are getting at with that question and I know why you asked so now that I stated the obvious for you, this thread should be pretty much done.(should be)

My mama is absolutely obsessed with gardening. I have never seen her happier than when she is tending to her garden. It has become her sanctuary. It is the only time in my whole life i have truly seen her happy. Everything seems to grow around her. No matter how hard or how long she works, she continues to smile. At times i thought i would just die in home depot's or Target's Garden Dept., but the look on my mama's face was all i needed, we could stay as long as she wants. Everything she touches seems to manifest into an eternal growth. She'll bring anything back to life. She is a natural nurturer and I'm glad she finally found peace in her garden.

We loves to grow watermelon.

Exactly, when I was growing up my father always did yard work on weekends, and we had to help.

I would love to have a garden since I am a raw vegan. Growing my own let's me know exactly what I'm getting. I have this thing about grass though, it irks the hell out of me. So my garden would have to be surrounded by concrete.

I know, really. I mean, even in the fall we had to drive all the way to this other property my grandad owned miles and miles away just to rake the leaves so the grass wouldnt be ruined for spring, and in the spring, up we drove to plant the flower and grass seed and prepare for a summer of mowing and planting. And THAT wasnt even our regular house. My dad and grandparents and mom (and us kids) spent hours of spring and summer with vegetable, raking, mowing, painting, planting, pruning, cutting and on and on...oh geez.
