Hello fellow topix members. I have some interesting news for yous. I really want to share this.=) So I was talking with my older sister about my family history on my moms side, since I really don't know nothing about that side of the family. As you know, I am part French and German... My mother is French and my father was German. I am a least a 3 generation American. I am 75% white and 25% black.. The blackness comes from my moms side of the family. My great grandmother was black. I believe my great grandmother wasn't African American, but possibly North African or French Carribean. But I am more sure that she was North African, because I have muslim ancestry on my moms side. I only know some cousins in France, new Orleans and that's about. On my dad side I know a lot of my family members on that side and the history. My great grandmother was black only, after that the rest in my family were white. When people see me, they absolutely know I am a white women, because of my blonde hair and blue yes. Me and my father are the only ones in the family that have that. My sister on the other hand looks like a Italian with jet black hair. Even though when you first see me, you would say I am a white women. But there are somethings that you can tell that I have black ancestry like full lips, the tone of my voice, my waist and finally my olive type skin. But I still indentify with white. But the real question is, would I be considered black in the USA? I mean with the one drop rule, if you have black blood in you, you would be labled black? As I say again, I indentify with white and people see me as white. But me being 25% black, would I be labled black, because of the one drop rule? What is you guys opinion?
