it seems being a darkskin woman is a crime in the media,it's really not looked at as beautiful.however ,when it comes to men ,it's looked at as sexy ,exotic and etc.women of all races melt over a darkskin man.i've even notice this in the city.people im around always talk about darkskin girls aren't pretty or you can't find too many pretty ones . then they right after saying that ,they'll say,"uhn! he fine and chocolate" ,or "i want me a chocolate man".so i was saying to myself, what the fxck? i notice that people discriminate against people of dark complexions at times, but it seems it's more so towards women ,not men.or at least ,dark women have it worser than dark men when it comes to sex appeal and beauty.why is this ? chocolate flavor

I really do think it's a gender thing, not to mention how in the past, a girl is consider lady-like if she was light-skinned because she stayed home so she wasn't dark. It's a retarded mentality, but it's prevalent everywhere, even in some parts of Africa--where everybody is dark already. In any case, it's a dumb mentality that needs to go, and it's showing some healthy signs with the introduction of dark-skinned models and how people are tanning and stuff. The ideal of beauty for women changes over time, so hopefully the tanning thing gets even darker :) Good topic btw, it's something I've thought about for awhile.

It is a gender thing! It's like black men treat black women like the men in Iraq treat their women. Totally like crap! This is beginning to be a sex issue towards black women. I think black men are sexist. They always degrade black women.

This is not directed just to you but to anyone who reads this post. Some things are not as obvious as it seems. Ok. This is how I see it. Men are judged based on what type of woman they have. White men, who are the ones who run the world, power depends on that of white women. That is why white women are considered the "standard of beauty". Because of that, you have some "minority" women too busy trying to achieve that "standard". You have some "minority" men brainwashed into believing that and chasing after these women. Notice I said, "some". Therefore, if you are busy doing these things, how are you going to find the mental strength and time to focus on important issues that help build the black community, when you are already "brainwashed?" This is what help keeps the white man in power. Now, dark skin black women are the most opposite of white women, and if the dark woman was to ever be considered the standard of beauty, then guess what? Other races would be busy trying to achieve that look and chasing her, which would put the black man in a position that would make it easier for him to be in power, thus weakening the white power structure. This is why the dark black woman's looks is villified. It is threatening to the white power structure. Dark black women taking over the standard of beauty would set a new precedent, a new precedent that many fear, if not, there would be no need to villify and ridicule her looks, now would there? White power relies on black ignorance. This may not make a lot of sense to some, but it makes sense to me. White power structure = media.

I do think that light-skin men thouhg are considered like a 'trophy' as well, but that's more of the European standard of beauty, then anything.

hmm I agree that dark skin Black men have it a little better but only within the Black community. I don't think that outsiders "melt" over dark skin at all. For some reason Black people show love and respect for dark skin Black men but never for dark skin Black women. Strangely enough though, I have found that appreciation for dark skin Black women, when it does happen, is from other races of men.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Maybe the reason why it does not seem that I don't answer the question is because I am often able to see things from both sides. Yes, dark black men may have it a little better when it comes to the looks department, but who is getting shot up by police? Not dark black women. Things usually come around full circle because at one point the dark black men had it hard when it came to dating because the ladies were hot up for the light men. Men set the standard for women, not for men, so I believe that the women are the ones who see dark skin as masculine. Since men set the standard for women, they see lighter skin as feminine. This does not apply to all but there are enough men and women who believes this, which leaves dark black women with the short end of the stick.

AIN'T ? Dude why do you continue to start with me,i am ten times more intelligent than you and i don't need to ridicule others who use the word AIN'T to prove it. Besides I think black women would rather a man use the word "Ain't", than making sexist statements about putting their penis in them and all kinds of sick crap which you have done. I'll use your own analogy on how to get black women to respect us but this time it will make more sense. start respecting black women like the intelligent black man i know you can be and maybe they'll start respecting us.it's hard to respect someone who comes off as a rapist
