But if you have none of these quality you could try print ads as a option. Like others said on here get signed with a real agency first.
Sure it will give you something else to be jealous of especially since you won't have the nerve to contact an agency. LOL

But you should, they may need a stand in for the Crypt Keeper and you would be perfect for that role. I'm sure you even have the cackle down pat!

Both my daughters and my oldest granddaugher and my baby granddaughter is going to start soon. They just signed her and my grandson models. He won first place in the Proex cutest smile contest last year. So that is enough modeling in the family for me.

The trolls..

I hate it when people comment on someone's picture when they don't have the nerve to put up one of themselves.

take high quality headshots and send them out to agencies.

agencies will NOT ask you for money so don't fall for that.

if you want to do high fashion/runway then go to new york.

if you wanna do print then come to LA.

good luck.

Don't believe in anyone asking you for money, it's a scam. Agents will do everything that you need done for you to progress in your career.
Janice dickenson has an up and coming agency in LA, she is always holding open castings. Contact them, maybe send some pics.
Good luck!
i've actually worked with janice (not as a model.. as a PA) and her agency is in the hollywood/highland complex and she's always ALWAYS looking for black/ethnic/mixed models.

first off, do not pay a dime to this "agency." i looked them up online and it seems like you're going to get sucked into taking/paying for courses and they want you to get your headshots from them etc..

the only thing you need to pay for are your headshots.

and yes, you NEED headshots.

i freelance in the industry so i'm not just blowing smoke up your @ss. i do casting and i can honestly tell you what we look for.

if you sent us a polaroid it wouldn't get past the waste bin. so you need headshots. i belive this is the 'profile' that agency was telling you about.

i think they mean portfolio and you can't HAVE a portfolio until they send you on gigs and you build it.

for now you need headshots and you don't need to get them from this agency.

you need 3 looks. one sorta plain (that "no makeup" makeup look).. you need another full body shot that *does* focus on the face (not so much background).. and you need a photo that's a bit more "camera ready" makeup but please no cheesy glamour shot overdone makeup look.. that'll kill it. just camera ready makeup.

you also need to make those 3 or 4 different pics look as differently as possible. you want to portray the youngest age you can pull off, you want something high fashion and plain-ish.

before i can recommend agencies i would need to know what sort of modeling you wish to persue...

-runway/high fashion (then you'd need more NY agencies)

-print (agency locations would depend upon what sort of print work)

-commercial (pursue LA agencies)

like i said before.. an agency will NOT cost you a dime. i can't stress that enough.

it's also always best (if the agency is trying to push you to get the headshots taken there).. don't do it.

$850 is an @ssrape. i'm willing to BET that they tried to get you to take some classes or something.

the agency you approach would depend upon what sort of modeling you wish to persue.

if you're not sure, these questions would determine which avenue you should pursue. lol and you don't have to answer these here.

how tall are you?

if you're under 5'10 then you'd have to go print... just little things like that.

how much do you weigh?

what is your dress size?

what is your shoe size?

how old are you?

those questions would honestly be able to tell you which sort of agency would be your best bet.

again, good luck!

You think someone would need professional photos to even get an agency? I was always told that they want to see you natural and unmade up, so they can see your skin, bone structure, etc. looks like and if you go to like Wilhelmina or Ford's website, they say they prefer you submit snapshots w/no makeup.

I know once your in an agency, you have to get professional photos taken, but I never thought before hand.

I used to work at a couple of fashion magazines, and when they would cast for models we always saw the "finished" product (the model's casting cards), so I'm not sure what goes on before that!
