Don't spend a lot of money on pictures or modeling agencies. A legit agency has open calls and polaroid shots will do.

But you need an agency. And just know that if your not 5'9" and up and around 110 lbs., you have better chances at just print modeling (catalogs, commercials, etc), not high fashion.

So how do you get into print modeling? Is that also done through an agency?

LOL..with her ugly manly over sized Polynesian looks the only thing she could model for would be for a Lilo and Stitch remark movie. She looks just like Lilo's sister Nonne in human form..LOL@APVcan'tmodel.net

I agree with njfashionista. take some regular pictures don't even wear makeup or wear very little. They are pros, they will see everything they need to see in those photos.

Don't believe in anyone asking you for money, it's a scam. Agents will do everything that you need done for you to progress in your career.

Janice dickenson has an up and coming agency in LA, she is always holding open castings. Contact them, maybe send some pics.

Good luck!

Yes, usually they have a print division at an agency--kids/actors/30+/Senior s/Plus size, etc.

Thinking about it APV? You should, your photogenic!

That is so true. Just take some pictures w/o makeup in regular clothes and send them into agencies. You can pull their addresses online. Trust me on that, I sent regular pictures in for modeling for Essence Mag and Ford they call me back from using those. Avoid paying for expensive photos and those modeling schools. If you get a agency they will take professional pictures. Most agencies for runway are looking for people 5"9 or taller and super thin. But if you have none of these quality you could try print ads as a option. Like others said on here get signed with a real agency first.

They can continue believing that's me in the picture if they want. It's actually a tremdendous ego boost knowing that I'm doing so much damage that they would have to resort to that. It's really the first solid impact indicator I've had, I thought I was shooting over their heads all this time. LOL.
The scary thing is, a lot of these clowns put their real pictures up here, and then get mad when you crack on them. Hilarious LOL

HELP

You got some good advice from people here so far.

It does largely depend on what type of modelling you want to get into and your age, height, body type.

If you really want a chance at this, you should consider moving to NYC at some point.

That's where the big agencies and the money jobs are.

The real money is in commercial, catalog and look book jobs.

Nowadays, a good hard working model that is in demand can earn up to $8000 for a few days of working to appear in high end catalogs.

Breaking into the high fashion circles is very tough.

I do not want to put you off but the industry is very brutal, having thick skin is crucial.

Scouts and agents will be awfully blunt and honest.

4 polaroids of yourself is all that's need for an agency to want to take you on.
