Dying Woman Ignored At Brooklyn Hospital: Reforms promised after camera footage captures tragedy.

I saw the footage on Nancy GRace yesterday, it was dispicable that the staff just left her there like that, plus she had 6-8 kids, horrible.

Maybe they thought she was a troll. We all KNOW how effective ignoring THEM is at removing them...

That's a Harrisson style "ignorement". You take your shot, and walk away all proud of yourself for being "above" it all...lol!!!

I'm sorry to admit being from Bensonhurst originally, but the way urban society has cowered to the fickle pallatte of the poor oppressed minority made the wide open country (where a decent income is required to maintain homeownership)a much more attractive landscape.

What started out as a temporary policy introduced by President Johnson in 1965 as a way to help minorities compete at an equal level with whites in the workplace and level the playing field may have mutated into exactly what it sought to quell, racism. The controversy started because the process of affirmative action involves preferential selection; selection on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity. It generates much controversy on whether it really is beneficial or not for the under-represented and whether it gives preference or equality and could be questioned "Did this woman pay the Ultimate Price for such Programs...?"

I just saw the video... There were other people there also... I don't understand why they didn't try and get her help?

I'll bet their excuse is,'they were too busy' which is never an excuse for negligence. This sort of reminds me of the girl getting killed, years ago, on the sidewalk somewhere in NY, she was screaming for help, people looked out their windows, and did nothing! not even dial for police, so here we are many years down the road, this sort of thing should surprise no one.

The big surprise is that there was a camera, this monitoring of people might increase staff's awareness next time.

Sad state of affairs. I guess this is to be expected in a large city where there seems to be little compassion for ones fellow man. It must be the due to the amount of people in such a small area. What a pity. She deserved better from the very place she went to seeking help.

If there were white people in that ER...staff, patients, and guards... they would have helped her right away. Black people sux.

I don't understand people like that... Idf someone is hurting in front of me I have to try and help... I wouldn't be able to just ignore that. I hope you are right and those employees who ignored her should be fired.

Before you start giving the hospital a hard time ask yourself one question. Did she have insurance?

That just goes show. That the healthcare system in the U.S. is getting to be at an all time low. It is shame that we have to suffer like this. I thought that at least the woman was seen by somebody. It made me sick watching that video. That's somebody's mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend. Why was no one with her anyway. A similar incident happend in cali a few yeras ago where the lady had passed out and janitors cleaned up around her body and left her there. SICK I TELL YA SICK!!!!!!!!!!SICK!!!!!!!!!!SI CK!!!!!!!

yea the doctor walked out and ignored her to, damn shame he didnt even walk up to her and see if she was still breathing

Yep...they were too busy doctoring....the records, to show all the attention she was getting during the time frame on the video.

Oh, this is so awful :( I can't believe it. But I learned about this in psychology class and it's called the bystander effect and basically when there is a a fair number of people around, the people wait for somebody else to initiate help. It's really sick, but our teacher even showed us a lot of different examples and it's just amazing what people will do. There was this one example of this guy literally getting hit by a car and nobody did anything they just sat there and watched him die. It's so sick, you have to wonder how in the world that can happen to people. Goodness.

For those pegging it on race, I find that utterly hilarious. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with race. This happens to everybody regardless of race. It's a sickening ordeal.

Btw, I'm not making excuses for them. They should get the biggest punishment---but this is like an example my teacher would use in a pysch class, so I think this is what it would be called.

Well atleast that's one less person that they have to worry about takin care of! That's a sad way to think about a human life.

Lesson leaned: If your life depended on it. Don't go to a rundown hospital if you can help it.*TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!*

We had a simliar situation like that happen on Philly's famous South Street in front of Whole Foods Market in broad daylight July '04. I will never under such cowardess.

If it was Black men who ran the emergency room/hospital they would blame the woman's death on her. They would say "Its mostly her fault because she should have known better than to come to this hospital".
