Being thick is a great thing, it all depends, on where the thickness,is... If it's in the booty area. Great thing. But if it's where the stomach area is and that's the toughest area. Not such a good thing.
And you live in Weight competitive, California. I know, you are under a lot a pressure to be thin. And 5'9, and 155, should not be considered fat. I've seen people who is 5'9 and over 200 pounds, so you are definitely, not fat. It's all in the mind. Think thin, and you will feel thin. Think, fat and you will feel and think you're fat. |

Right! But black women are the only women on Earth who look good thick. I'm sorry to say this but alot of white and Asian women don't look good overweight as they look better skinny as the way their men want them to be. Black women have perfect curves and hour glass figures and carry their weight almost perfectly balanced in their breast, buttocks, thighs and abdomen. The one thing I like about thick black women is they are confident and take pride in their size and aren't insecure and ashamed about it like women of other races. However, I can't confuse beauty with health. As a matter fact, most black cultures prefer their women to be thick and I know this is popular in black women in South Africa. While I personally prefer my black women to be thick as their breast, buttocks and thighs are more refined as well as them looking cute when they're thick, I also have to consider the health risks involved as black women risk getting diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases just from eating to much and being overweight. I love my beautiful sexy sistas regardless of their size as they look good whether they are skinny, thick, or fat. |

I totally understand, I feel that way when Im home. For some reason, its way different in CA. I go to school in VA and my eating habits have changed a lot, and not for the better, lol, they got me hooked on fried foods and pizza! When my mom sees me, she says, nicole, what is going on!..but everyone calls me too skinny here! Most of my friends in CA that are 5'8 and above, are about 115 to 125 at the most. But that's normal if you're into high fashion. And you're a make-up artist, i don't think you have to look model material. There are fashion designers and editors that look nothing like the models they book..like Domenico Dolce(with dolce and gabanna)..he's not attractive, you won't find him on the runway...but he still has the fiercest slingback pumps any girl can own!=) I think all you have to do is be comfortable and confident with yourself, be friendly, great at your job, and you won't lose business, plus you can look awesome at any size with the right clothes!=). And if you really want to lose weight, just for the sake of doing it, I would recommend a personal trainer. I'm into sports and I had to do it last summer. It's well worth it, and within a month I was ready =). If you don't have any friends that are gym fanatics, you can find some trainers that are pretty inexpensive. |

At about 5' 4" the so-called "ideal weight range" is 112 to 125. For each inch, add 5 to 8 pounds depending on bone structure ... so 5' 9" puts the "ideal range" at about 137 to 165. That puts you into that range .... that ideal range, by the way, has to do with health ... but the most healthy poeple also look their best .... In fact, someone with large bone structure looks downrigh AWFUL at 137 pounds and 5' 9"..... better at 150-160 .... |

yes being thicker is where its at.. i am considered thick(36-24-48)160lbs, 5'5 and i love it. i also was told by doctors that i was over weight according to the chart, but that chart is wrong, we as black americans are made different.. there is another chart out just for black americans. the weight and height difference is astounding. as long as you feel and eat healthy and excersise, you will be ok.

I agree. I'm 5'8, 180 lbs. 42-36-48. I used to be conscious about it, but my boyfriend loves me like this. He likes something to hold onto. White guys are coming after us thick sistas too and as long makes him "perform" well, it's all good! LOL |

I've seen other race women, but is a rarity. They are usually thinner in the wrong places. |

There are two standards women can go by BMI (Body Mass Index) and for some women of different races is not fair, I've heard the arguement and its sometime a valid point, Black women and Hispanic women have breast and hips (ass), No doubt about it, but these things can be brought under control to the point where areas of fat are not in the quote wrong places, proper diet and exercise will always keep these in check, a woman 5'9" 200 lbs will be on the wrong side of the tracks as she ages and before long that 200lbs will grow to 275 or more if she does not get at it quick.
