Truly Silver and Bleak: Raiders offensive offense just embarrassing

Full story: Times-Standard

My wife asked me to define pathetic Sunday morning and I didn't hesitate. "The Oakland Raider offense," I said.

At this point I am glad I grew up a Niner fan. Finally they are better than the Raiders... again.

Ray,

I share your pain week in and weekout I sit and watch every horrible minute. I do have one question. Is it me or did I see a one sided game concerning the ref's? Another catch that wasn't. Our QB and receivers taking shots to the head and no flags. And the flag for thanking God in the back of the endzone. Yeah I know your thinking another Raider fan complaining about the ref's. But take a good look at the game and see for yourself. When will this BS stop? Our guys are out there fighting just like the other team. I don't mind if they lose as long as it's a fair game. Anyway the Giants are next and I'm pretty sure we know how thats going to go. But I'll be sitting and watching every play.

Have been a fan of the Raiders for 37 years, and i am just plain tired of this pathetic situation. It is time for major change and that means either Al goes, or he hires someone to run his organization while he fully retires and becomes a fan of the team from the backround. If he wants to see the Raiders return to any kind of respectability before he dies, he needs to get out of the decision making position. I say, hire Gruden, make him HC and GM, give him a huge contract with stock options if he gets the team to the Super Bowl.

I don't have a problem with the calls as long as they are called fairly on both sides. There is no way to have a "perfectly" called game...but it would be nice for it to be even. I watch other games and see the same sort of thing. Calls favoring one team not the other...so it's not just the Raiders. My question is....is it conspiracy to get the teams they(NFL) want to win to win? or is it purely the individual ref having a bias? or is it just more noticeable with certain teams....I would imagine there are arguments for each. The bottom line is if we were playing better ball the calls wouldn't likely be an issue. If we were connecting passes and running the ball we would be winning. I am frustrated with how the season is going...however, I think we have the tools...its just a matter of execution.

I felt it was one-sided. The Murphy catch was good and again the Raiders were victims of the video ref. Johnson's TD celebration was far less offensive than Texan's Jones punt return. Russell was hit in the head and the replay showed the ref staring right at the play. The Texans were using the illegal wedge play on returns. These were pointed out by the announcer Steve Tasker. I saw more than a couple holds and illegal contacts made on the receivers. Would it have made a difference in winning or losing the game? Probably not. However, I would like to see the Raider WRs ask for the flag when they are interfered with and Russell to ask for the flag with he receives a blow to the head. Other teams have players that show this awareness (and get the calls) and the Raider players should do the same.

It wouldn't be a thread about the raiders without at least one person playing the "we get screwed by the refs" card.

its soo hard to watch these games..what the heck did duh marcus hold out for?i know the whole offense sux but he is by far the worst q.b. i have ever had the displeasure to watch.i would rather bring back mark wilson....ugggg you raider fans remember him..sure there have been some dropped balls but most of those passes were not really where they should have been and with no touch what so ever.as far as the ref thing there is truth to it,i remember a snowy day in new england awhile back...enough said on the whole ref thing for now because the bad calls now dont really matter the raiders couldn't beat south fork at this point..yes al needs to go i agree on that.i just long for the days when we were competitive..and to all the niner fans posting on here the niners look like a good young team great young defense they seem to have taken after their coach.wish we had a coach like that.

your right it would not have made a difference in the outcome of the game..but it is getting old,did u see tom brady scream for a flag and get it twice?he was not even touched..but then again duh marcus deserves to be hit in the head....

I have been a Die Hard Raider fan for more than 30 years and it is getting harder and harder to watch them. Jamarcus flat out sucks, I'd rather watch Marc Wilson play. Al...You are already in the Hall of Fame and rapidly approaching the Hall of Shame. Bring Gruden back and allow him to coach, that is what you pay them to do. If not I will coach them and be your puppet and collect a paycheck and I promise not to break any other coaches jaw. Seymour, I do apologize for how you were treated I wouldn't have wanted to go Oakland either. What can we do as a Raider Nation with the team Al keeps giving us? I will still watch them every week and walk proud to be part of the greatest fans in the world. But Al you might not think you owe anybody anything, but you owe the Raider Nation for our loyalty. With that said I am Dying Hard........

for many decades, nfl teams have struggled to be "it". RAIDERS have been "it" for decades. and we have struggled in the past. had our best years winning and losing. RAIDERS of today have struggled to bring the RAIDERS back to their winning ways. we can say it's our (qb) or our offense or (D) or coaching or for that matter, "al davis". but through out, we've had new coaches new (qb's) talented players and #1 picks to bring our team back to it's glory. we've made good decisions and not so good decisions through out. if it's not one thing it's another. injuries or coaches getting their jaws broken. all in all, we cannot say that we haven't tried to get the RAIDERS back to their winning ways. sometimes you purchase something and it's not what it turns out to be. well, we have cable, russell, d-mac, dh-bey, gallery ,seymour, huff, namdi, ellis. we picked up some good players and assistant coaches along the way. we have talent! we even have al davis,(still) so we have talent everywhere! i definetly don't think we are far from getting it together to get back to our winning ways, "with what we have".
coach cable says; "don't give in,keep moving forward" meaning, don't fall into our losses. just keep moving forward and we will get there. hard to be a RAIDER fan nowadays with all these haters poking at you like the little devils that they are.(LOL) but they were there at one time. just recently have their teams surfaced from what they were and finally they are able to open their mouths.(LOL) well, so be it! that's the fun of the nfl. all i can really say is, hang in there. if you are a die hard RAIDERS fan, you know what i mean. we die for our team. others "haters" will switch from team to team and may have already liked the RAIDERS at one time. "or should i say,"three times" (LOL).play to win! that's what we do.and our motto will always be, "JUST WIN BABY"

I agree... Al Davis is going to have to die before I can return to being a Raider fan... unfortunately it is very difficult to kill the Undead! In the meantime... if you like a good train wreck, you can count on the Raiders to deliver one weekly...

When Gruden left, the soul of that team went with him. When have the Raiders ever been so soft?

Yea, it is a matter of execution... Execute the whole team and Al Davis and start from scratch! ;)
